An unassuming place from the outside when drive by it. This place gives off the impression that its just a gimmick as you walk up to the entrance and find that the trash bins are painted in various Chicago sports team logos. Once inside it feels just as gimmicky, the tables are covered in "mob" pictures and sports insignia. We were greeted by the friendly staff and promptly seated at our table. As I sat down I saw a huge red flag! There was ketchup at the table... I quickly scanned the dining area and realized that all the tables had ketchup. We ordered the cheddar bacon fries, fried zucchini, Chicago style hotdog, and a Pastrami sandwich.
The cheddar bacon fries were great! It was actual cheddar cheese on the fries and they were still crisp.
The fried zucchini was ok. A little soggy and they left my fingers very greasy after touching them.
The Chicago style hotdog seemed passable. It had all the correct toppings. It seemed like they held back on the relish and onions as I couldn't really see them. The fries that came with were a little too salty. There was also some confusion about the fries as no one informed us that the hotdog automatically came with fries.
The pastrami was tasty but cut way to thin. The onion rings that came with were tasty but much to greasy. Just like the zucchini when you picked one up there was a thick layer of grease on my finger tips.
For dessert we order the cannoli. Tasty but disappointing. The middle of the cannoli was empty and the ends were overstuffed as if to try and compensate for the disappointment that the restaurant knew was coming once we took a bite to find we had ate all the filling.
The bill seemed rushed as if they were trying to turn us over to get more people in quicker. Only problem with that is that half the restaurant was empty.
We found that was an extra charge on the bill for the use of credit cards. Not a big deal but we were not informed and denied the option to pay with an alternative form of payment if we had chosen to avoid the fee.
Overall its ok. Seems like a fun place to go have a few beers and watch a game but then again there are plenty of places to drink for...
Read moreHello. Former Chicagoan of ~20 years. I was very excited to try this place out. When I arrived I got excited to see all of the sports references and art. The painted logos on the garbage cans out front were a nice touch.
When I entered the front doors I was greeted by a group of lovely young women, all in Cubs shirts. I was sat at a table that had Jonathan Toews with the Blackhawks logo. Very apt for me.
It took quite some time for a server to take my order. I didn't mind too much because I was having some fun looking at all of the pictures on the walls and studying what other people were eating. The family next to me was eating a "deep dish" style pizza that did not look very deep (or cooked thoroughly).
I ordered an Italian beef, Chicago hotdog, and a sausage. The Italian beef was pretty good. Could use a tiny bit of red pepper chili flakes and salt if you want to be closer to Al's Beef in Chicago.
The Chicago hotdog was ok. The dog was lacking a bit of flavor.
The sausage was inedible. Completely dry and lacked flavor. I couldn't eat more than one bite. I'd recommend they switch to a local butcher than wherever they source their sausages.
I went to the bathroom and noticed the water faucets had a lot of mineral deposits that hadn't been cleaned out in months. I looked at the door and the door handle had caked-on dirt, which showed it hadn't been wiped down in ages. Looked around the floor and it was pretty dirty.
When I stepped back out to the main dining area I noticed trash was sporadically scattered all over the place. Sure, someone came by later and started sweeping a bit, but I couldn't help but think to myself "if their dedication to keeping the bathroom clean is so low, how high is their dedication to serving me clean quality food?"
I want to give this place a much higher rating, as Amore Taste of Chicago has a lot of charm, and the whole staff was so polite and lovely; but the cleanliness and poor tasting sausage but a bit of a damper on my experience.
I will return and eat here again. If things are cleaned up and the sausage tastes better, I'll change my...

Just about 2:15 Friday afternoon I stopped in and ordered a pie at front register to get ball rolling. Deep dish takes a bit. First red flag — girl was on her phone texting and took a second to stop. I said hello first. Explained my situation and ordered.
Paid for the pie, said a second time would be back for a table to eat dine in and beer and ran over to the store real quick.
Back in 12 minutes and met the same girl. Asked which table she would like me to sit at and that I would like to order a beer. Reminded her I just ordered a pie 13 minutes previous. Confused deer in the headlight look had me say never mind. I’ll sit at the bar.
Second red flag — Went over to the bar and looked at the back of someone cleaning the taps for the next 7 1/2 to 10 minutes. Eventually, a second girl came over and asked me what I’d like. Explained I had already ordered a pizza to eat here and would like a beer. Asked me tall or short and then came back with — No beer on tap. Saved a few more dollars and went with water.
After bringing me the water she left. Still no plate, no fork, knife, salt, pepper, etc. Grab those myself since they were just next to me.
Five minutes later, my pizza comes to me in a box. All the sudden it’s a pick up Pizza. That’s funny. I was paying that price to eat some of it fresh. Guess not this time or ever again.
Shame - the kitchen staff made a really nice looking pie. Smells delicious probably tastes great fresh. Not sure how much it’s gonna taste that way an hour and a half from now when I get a chance to re-warm it.
Service and atmosphere would get less than zero if I could give that but the place did look clean and it wasn’t loud, but it was empty.
Covid is over. Find another excuse for crappy service or shut the place down if you can’t find staff. At these prices, customers expect good quality and a minimum of polite customer service. ...
