I’m writing this because I’ve already tried reaching out to Café Rio corporate, I’ve left reviews, and even waited a long time to speak with the manager in person—only to leave feeling dismissed and frustrated.
Last night, I went to Café Rio with my 18-month-old baby. There was only one person ahead of me in line, and the restaurant was nearly empty. I stood there holding my baby for about 10 minutes before anyone even started taking my order. It was slow and honestly just inconsiderate.
When we finally got to toppings, I asked for a side of ranch, and the woman said, “That’ll be extra.” I said, “You’d think after waiting so long, you might offer a ranch or a drink on the house.” She responded, “I can’t really do that.” No empathy, no attempt to make things right.
Then I found out—she was the manager. I told her, “I’m sorry, but this is just really slow service, especially when it’s empty in here.” I mentioned we’d just come from the emergency room, were exhausted and hungry, and I’d been holding my baby the whole time. Still—no apology. No acknowledgment. She continued charging me for every little thing, and I was the one apologizing for even bringing it up.
This isn’t just a one-time thing. I keep trying to give this location another chance, but the service is consistently poor. My mom once went and was served slimy lettuce—when she politely asked for different lettuce, they were rude to her. It just seems like the culture here lacks basic kindness.
And to be clear: I understand if a place is understaffed. But even then, there are ways to treat customers with respect. What made it worse was that while I was waiting, there were employees cleaning—not helping with orders. Then once more customers arrived, suddenly more people came to help at the line. It felt like they just didn’t care about us.
Standing in line with a baby for 10 minutes while staff cleaned and ignored us was incredibly frustrating. I left feeling like I wasn’t valued at all—not as a paying customer, and definitely not as a tired mom just trying to...
Read moreThe staff were not very attentive and they kept telling my husband and I that they were out of tortillas and that we had to wait. We did not mind waiting but after waiting a couple minutes the lady who was taking our order told me that they were completely out of corn tortillas and the lady who was making tortillas chimed in and said that they were not and she was making some. My husband ordered the new birria tacos which we had to wait for because they didn’t have any more meat or tortillas made. Other people who were in line behind us had already ordered their food and paid while we were still waiting for our food. My husbands food was finally out on the grill and we decided to pay while we waited. I ordered chicken enchiladas which were already done and sitting on a tray next to the cashier. We waited 15 minutes for my husbands food to be done while mine sat by the cashier getting cold. When we finally sat down to eat my husband opened up his tacos and they were all burnt. So ridiculous!! My food on the other hand was cold. We didn’t say anything to anyone because we did not think it was worth it. A whole bunch of children were working the line with no caring adult in site. How ridiculous. I also took pictures of my husbands burnt tacos that he ate because he was hungry and was not gonna wait around 30 minutes for them to re make his tacos. The kids they have working are super slow and you can tell they do not care about how they’re making your food nore are they friendly. The cashier looked absolutely miserable. No smile from any of the workers. I do not want a whole bunch of children making my food so I will not be returning. So...
Read moreI’ve been eating here since the place opened when it used to be packed and have slowly watched their business dwindle to almost nothing. The reason is that the food is terrible. There’s no longer any quality control. The people making your food could care less what it’s going to taste like for you or what you want. I ordered a burrito and it had almost nothing in it, I wanted no rice, but black and pinto beans, the burrito literally had 2 tablespoons of beans in it in a tablespoon of chicken. The rest was the shell and a bunch of sloppy sauce. My husband asked for extra cheese and the employees Don’t care. It didn’t used to be that way, I don’t know if corporate’s become that greedy or it’s just the employees being lazy. I don’t care if you charge me a dollar for extra cheese if I want extra cheese, give me some extra cheese. Also the level of spiciness in my wet burrito, red sauce, and my house dressing was ridiculous. There’s never been any consistency and how spicy the sauces are at this location. We sometimes go to the Stephanie location because it seems like the sauces are less spicy. Not everyone likes spicy or can eat spicy for health reasons. Another reason I could barely eat that mess. They called a burrito. My husband had nachos and. And he said they were terrible and he will never eat there again. The shredded chicken used to be flavorful and actually seem like chicken. Now it just seems like crumbled up mush without any flavor, I’m not even sure it’s chicken or what they’re doing. I would not recommend this place and I will never go back...
