Been a customer since they opened! We ALWAYS order paper wrapped chicken and combo fried rice, amongst other items. Most times we just call in 2 orders of paper wrapped chicken and combo fried rice, which was the case today. We have had 10 orders in a row of perfect paper wrapped chicken then, for a few months, it started going downhill, very small portions. We stopped ordering for about a year honestly because items were too inconsistent, especially the paper wrapped chicken. Got back to ordering once a week for a while, the same items and they where fairly good. Todays same order as usual.. Two orders of paper, wrapped chicken and combo fried rice..well the portion of rice has gotten smaller (still delicious but SMALLER) the paper wrap chicken was not so good. I wish it wasn’t 115 degrees out, otherwise I’d head back to the restaurant and show them in person. (Staff, you know us 😊we order the same things under the same phone number for years!) Anyways, the juice AKA grease today was A LOT & the fact we had to PEEL bits and pieces off the foil prompted this review.
We were pleased that the portion inside the foil looked like it was “back to normal” THANKS FOR THAT but as you can see from the photo’s & videos this is something you need to work on.
We understand different staff/chefs may make things a bit differently. As long as things are made with a little love, that is all we can hope for.
Bottom line… are you proud to serve this? Maybe this review will hit the proper people in the kitchen and improvements can be made.
We are looking forward to our next order to see if we can continue our journey with you. Thank you kindly for your time and...
Read moreIt has been our family tradition to go here every Christmas day, sit and drink and order takeout. My dad would order saki and we would have soda and they would bring us the chips and sweat and sour dip. Sadly, my dad passed away in September, but we wanted to carry on the tradition in his honor. After sitting down and ordering our drinks, the waitress came over to place our order, we told her the order was to go, she then told us to go outside and wait very rudely. We were dumbfounded by her rudeness, do we leave the drinks we just ordered, do we take them outside with us?? My oldest sister was holding back tears. Finally the waitress just left to place our order after my middle sister said , we always drink and wait for our food at a table. It would be different if the place was full of people, but there were open tables and a waiting room for just take out orders with no drinks ordered while waiting. It looked like new management and cooks, with a couple of old workers. The old workers must have told the waitress that we were regulars, because she changed her attitude after returning to our table with free appetizers. The food we brought home was not all up to our standards as the prior years. Due to the rudeness and subpar food, I think we will be finding a new restraunt to go to for our yearly tradition from now on. This was a very hard and sad Christmas without our dad, and this one act of rudeness was the straw that broke our spirits. He would have been...
Read moreGrand China used to hold its own as the only dine-in or take out authentic Chinese food on this corner of town (if you don't qualify the Panda Express on College and Horizon as anything more than fast-food Chinese, which is correct).
Grand China either recently shut down because the small staff got COVID, or they are remodeling the kitchen because they were closed for a couple of weeks recently, but either way, changes have come after the closure.
Food seems more expensive, they have different to-go containers, and the food has definitely taken on on some different characteristics, such as the brand of breaded chicken they mixed with orange or General TSO sauce. It's different.
Understandably with supply chain issues, they may have had to change, but now that they are reopened they also seem to not be able to meet the demand of their current takeout orders, mixed with the increase number of people that are dining in-house. All of that mixed with a new staff member that doesn't understand quantity of orders and wait times.
It took an extra 30 mins from quoted time (10 - 15 mins) to have my order ready. The wait time is acceptable, if they would have quoted something more realistic up front.
Overall, a steadfast for this part of town, but it's going to be tough for us to go...
