Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican — Restaurant in Henderson

I have been debating of posting this review or not because I don’t usually do reviews. But thinking it over I felt it was Honestly, one of the most annoying experiences to have at a restaurant. When ordering most of their bins were close to empty, if not empty, and if asked if there was any on the other side where the drive-through orders are going, they simply said no. As I’m ordering for my children, they seem to rush me consistently expecting me to be done and don’t get me wrong. I understand that for kids may be a lot, but I feel like you shouldn’t be rushing the customer like that and they seemed rather annoyed as I continue to order food. As we make our way down, I had mentioned I would want tortilla chips and tortillas for me and my children to share And they said OK we get to the toppings rather vegetables are and what not and that’s when they finally decide to say That they were out of chips and reluctantly gave them Lettuce And sour cream. And I know that it doesn’t seem like much and I shouldn’t be upset, but I guess what annoyed me out of all this was not because there wasn’t any, but the fact that the entire time me and my family were there while they could’ve been making more food while they could’ve been getting things done They were standing around in a group laughing and talking it up. That’s what was annoying about it all even my kids who are the ages between six and nine wanted to leave because they were just so frustrated. And after all that, my children just wanted some freshwaters and they were out, but yet they were still sitting there chitchatting not refilling the drinks and when we went up to them to ask if they had any in the back, they just said no and continue to chatting. Not to mention that as soon as we were done ordering, that’s when they had decided to go on ahead and make more of anything. Very annoying experience, will never ever come to this location again and I guess it’s not uncommon for this location like that because a lot of the customer said that it’s always like this and that they have no choice to go to this one because it’s the closest one to them. 8.20.25: I gave Cafe Rio on Sunset Rd yet another chance for a good lunch experience. My last review is below this one. I ordered two steak tacos & two sweet pork tacos. I paid over $21 because I missed Taco Tue by one day. We'll, I went through the drive through & then drove about 25-30 min back to my place. I got home & opened my expensive bag of tacos, only to find they did not put cheese on any of them! I love cheese & must have it on any taco I eat. I was so upset! I called the store, but got customer care where I lodged my complaint. I angrily ate the tacos as I was starving. I had no mixed cheese to add. The ironic part of this story is that the speaker lady asked me if I wanted cheese. I told her "Oh yes, lots of cheese, pico de gallo & lettuce please." Another horrible experience at the Cafe Rio on Sunset Rd. I don't know what they're paying someone to manage that place, but it's way too much & they need to be replaced. It could not be an easier managerial position. However, it seems like the person doing it is just phoning it in when it comes to any responsibilities they have. i could have had spaghetti & meatballs with salad & garlic bread at Olive Garden for less than I paid for my four lousy tacos. I will not give that place any more chances. Eater beware! 🤬 I'm doing a complete reversal for my review about Cafe Rio's Taco Tuesday on Sunset Rd. I was in the drive through line & pulled up to the speaker. I made the mistake of being happy & yelling "Hey, Taco Tuesday is here!" Well, with the most unfriendly & dull tone, the lady on the other end asked me what I wanted. I then tried to order five steak tacos only to be told they were out of steak. It was the third Tuesday in the past month or so that they were somehow out of steak around lunch time & on Taco Tue. Being old & grumpy, I was quite rude to her which she deserved before pulling out of the line to order nothing at the time. In fact, I am done with Cafe Rio in Henderson forever & will start going to the one on Sahara Ave near Palace Station. A very clean location that has a great manager, staff & perfectly cooked tacos. The Cafe Rio on Sunset Rd needs to change some of the staff & order some steak already before they risk losing even more...

Okay so this place is a family favorite ❤️. It is not my personal favorite because the menu is limited so you have to take the high rating with a grain of salt. I usually get the tacos which come with two. I’m not a huge eater. It does come with birria dipping sauce (it is really juice) but I feel crappy about ordering such a small amount of food for such a high price.

So I noticed my son, who always orders better than me at every restaurant, always gets the nachos. So, I went against my “It is ridiculous to PAY 💰 for something so easy to make at home for cheap” policy. I ordered the nachos with sweet barbacoa.

Now, I have to warn you, I just watched that newly released Netflix special, Poisoned, The Dirty Truth about Your Food. It scared 😳 😱 me so silly I didn’t put anything on these except sour cream, cheese and meat. So, if you ever want to enjoy 😉 your “food life” again DO NOT watch this documentary!!!

Anyhow, these nachos were delicious 🤤!!! The restaurant takes food preparation seriously. The tortillas are made fresh in front of you. It’s clean and there is plenty of seating and parking. There are free refills on drinks including a new mango-lemonade that was too good for a non- gourmet restaurant. Seriously!😐

If you go to the Henderson location there is a lady there named Cleo who just turned 61. She just totaled her car and injured her foot. 🦶 She will ask you for a Google review of 5 stars ⭐️ and keep you entertained while expertly doing her job and yours. You know, refilling your drink, getting you a straw and packing away your leftovers. She hates her days off even when injured 🤕 with several broken ribs!!! How do I know?? I have dined in several times. 💟
