I just got home from Good Pie and didn't have a pizza. I promise the story I'm about to write is true. My wife and I walked in, sat down and ordered. We decided we wanted to add an order of meatballs, but our server was nowhere to be found. My wife walked up to the bar and ordered the meatballs and the guy behind the bar happily added them on. Meatballs came out, and there were 3 of them. They cost FOURTEEN dollars. They were very good, not as good as mine, but good. However for fourteen bucks I was expecting 5 or 6. Then we waited, and waited, and waited.
We saw two tables who were seated after us get three pizzas (between them) and after another few minutes I finally asked a the guy we ordered our meatballs from (who was clearing tables) if he could check on our pizza. A long discussion ensued in the kitchen, and it was clear our pizza was not ready.
He came out and said there was a mistake and our pizza wasn't going to be ready for 8 minutes. He didn't offer any discount, any complimentary slices, or anything. Furious (and starving) I said we're leaving. He replied back, you don't want to wait 8 minutes? Tell me you don't know how to treat your customers without actually saying it. As a follow up, our server was absolutely clueless the whole time we were there. Never checked on us and didn't see other tables had their food before ours. Overall, there were a lot of people running around looking busy, and the dining room was easily 1/3 full or less.
Here I am at home, still hungry with a meatball and a half in my stomach. I used to work in a pizza place, for about 4 years. I know mistakes happen. It's how you respond to it that brings people back. I will not come back to THIS location, I think I'll stick to the one in the arts district, if I ever decide to give them any of my money. There are too many pizza places in this town to settle for crappy customer service. I should have gone to...
Read moreThis was our second visit. We had the Grandma style. A bit heavier than the Sicilian we had last time, but good. We also had a tomato and cheese salad (cant think of the name) and mini canoli's. Salad was average. Tomatoes were a mix of over and underipe. Colors were white on some. Sad because I think it could've been good. The service however, was where this visit lacked from our first visit. The server routinely said, "I gotchu." The experience says she really didn't have us. Very few visits to the table, no explanation of the different pizza types for the people we brought, seemingly in a rush to leave the table before we could finish the sentence/request. For two people spending $65 (the full bill both couples +$115) I'd expect the service we had the first visit. It sucks because the couple that we raved to and got to come with us, got to see the version of service we hadn't seen before. Lastly, something needs to be done with the doors being opened and rush of cold air with every open and close. We had it the first visit and again this visit. Service matters when you want to charge $31 for a pizza that size. I hope you'll fix that as we'd like to make this a...
Read moreWe got the same order 2 nights in a row: "Johnny Be Good" with no mushrooms.
The first night, the pizza was perfect and delicious. We couldn't decide what to get the second night and the pizza was so good we just went with it the again second night. The second night, it was still delicious, but it gave us EITHER really bad stomach aches OR full on food poisoning.
The service is perfect, the staff are all polite and professional.
You can't order take-out on the phone, you have to do it online, which is a massive pain. I ended up just going in and ordering in person, and waiting in their dining area while they made the order. Honestly, I wouldn't mind the food poisoning if I could have just ordered on the phone instead of going in and waiting.
Assuming you don't get sick, the pizza is great! The atmosphere is laid-back and casual, it's pizza shop-y but not overly in your face, with an overall very comfortable feeling.
The average rating is currently 4.3 stars, which I'd say...
