I tried The Great Greek for the 1st and probably the last time. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Souvlaki dinner and the Avgolemono soup. The salad that comes with the dinner was good. Fresh flavor with oil and wine vinegar. The Avgolemono soup had good flavor, plenty of rice and chicken, but was very watery. Definitely needed to be thickened up. The rice pilaf was luke warm but tasty. The Grilled Chicken Kabobs, you can definitely tell that they were REHEATED. Not freshly made! The outside of the chicken was warmer than the inside of the chicken kabobs. Plus, the chicken kabobs were very DRY. Unfortunately, this is a result of reheated food on the grill. When we were asked how everything was, my wife told them that the chicken was very dry. Their response.... "Oh, sorry about that." No other acknowledgement or response, just "oh, sorry about that." The reason for the 1 star on the service besides lack of concern about cold food, was that 2 other tables that came in after us, were served their food before we even got our soup. All they said was that the kitchen was backed up and our food would be out soon. The atmosphere was not what you would expect from a "Greek" restaurant. The music they were playing sounded like the music of today. Just a regular music station, not Greek music for a Greek restaurant. Plus, the music being played was very loud which made it hard to hold a conversation at your own table.
Overall, I was disappointed. This is not what I expected based on the reviews of other patrons that previously posted. Perhaps the cook for tonight had a bad day and pre-made food to fulfil orders quicker?? and the servers weren't trained on how to handle negative comments?? But, based on my experience today, I would not...
Read moreI'm leaving the original review at the end of this to show what I thought before. Now it has certainly changed for the worse. I went twice this past month and both are negative. My last visit the gyro meat what ridiculously had hard crunchy pieces which I can understand if a few slices had the crunchy parts but not nearly every slice. The cook knows their product and should trim off the edges before serving of the meat have been sitting for extended periods. The visit before that the food was fine but they forgot about my order and I literally sat at a table for 40 minutes. I have them the extra time because they were busy but after they served everyone that was behind me they simply forgot. I reminded them and I could tell they were a bit shocked and threw in a free desert for the trouble. Problem is my food was room temperature. 2 stars now use to be 4/5 stars. Here is my original review,.................Almost everything here is great. I tend to get the steak kebab plate because the steak is excellent and it will come with a solid and a couple pieces of pita bread. And they give you a lot of steak. They sell all sorts of other stuff like chicken kabobs gyro sandwiches soups salads and desserts. Only reason it's four stars is because the rice is consistently too salty which forces me to get fries instead and I love rice if it's not too salty. Also you pay a...
Read moreFirst time there and the reason for 3 stars down the board is we had lunch for 3 of us. The 2 ladies I was with one had the Greek salad without any meats just all the rest of its items. I tasted it and it was well a Greek salad. Our 14 year old had the same with chicken so I got to try the chicken so it was Greek salad with a flare of seasoned breast on it. And I had a Gyros wrapped in some sort of soft tortilla type stuff. Can't remember the name of it now. That's not good coming from a Banquet Chef myself . Greek isn't my specialty and everytime I eat it 3rd time in my life, sitting down like that , I realize it's not my thing. Mine was a lamb special of the day. Should have gotten the burger and fries. It was dry with a lack of the zing and pizazz I wanted. Hence is why I don t go to those types of eateries. 3 stars cuz my girls just love the pl a ce. Good service for counter, and atmosphere well just say I'm really tired of rhe food in the basket atmosphere. But you still get the inflated prices for what mostly is turn in burn. It's All about the number at the end of the day. Take it from someone who knows. But i really love to see my guests all happy with smiles. Here I didn't quite get that almost but then again not my type of place. But if you like Greek food then this place is for sure what your...
