Sunset Station Serves a Sensational Staycation ... We stayed at Sunset Station Casino, July 26-29 2024, 1301 W Sunset Rd, Henderson, NV 89014, for my grandson's JBT Championship Bowling Tournament. We're locals, so this is a staycation for us! We've had staycations at many local Las Vegas hotel casinos, but this is our first time at Sunset Station. First impressions and check in: Due to our not so lovely weather (28 days straight triple digit heat wave averaging 116°), I opted for covered parking to lessen "hot car syndrome" even though free "valet" was recommended for check in. Station Casinos still have free parking! We asked for early check in, which cost extra, but the lovely gals at check in explained there was additonal fees between 9am-12n, but from 12n to 3pm if a room is available then no charge for early check in. We checked in "early" at 12n, no extra charge. It was fast, the clerk was cheerful and offered lots of guidance and extras, plus a nice room selection. We headed to our room on the requested 7th floor. A long walk down a secluded hallway takes us to a day time security guard, then to an elevator requiring a hotel card to access. You'll really like that extra level of security. The guard seems mostly for screening pool guests, since some casinos offer pool passes to locals, but still like that extra level. The room was standard (see pics) with two queens, table and chairs, tv, and dresser. More bonus points for a separate dressing area (sink, mirrors, towels) outside the bathroom shower area. The room and bath were clean, included blackout curtains, and icy a/c (set it cool as you want) for the outside 113° weather. The casino has a nice circular type set up. A long circular walk takes you past nearly everything, then right back to the parking garage. There are dozens of places to eat from Starbucks and Panda Express to a coffee shop and oyster bar. They were running a food special of 8 different dishes for $8 at the Italian restaurant (yummy choices), but my favorite meal was at the Oyster Bar where I ordered 1/2 lb of chilled large peel-and-eat shrimp with a side basket of bread for only $14 (no charge for the bread). Service was wonderful at both restaurants, plus I was sitting with friends and the servers didn’t make a fuss over separate checks, and actually got the orders right. It's nice to eat somewhere that trains it servers well and they even add a smile. As I said at the beginning, we were attending my grandson's JBT Championship Bowling Dinner and Tournament. Sunset's 72 lane bowling alley Strike Zone was hosting a few hundred bowlers and their families for four days in a row. We booked three nights to make a mini-stay-vacay part of the enjoyment. The bowling alley staff were amazing, generous, happy (I love service with a smile) and on their toes. I don't know how, but the snack bar kept up with orders, plus food wasn't heavily over-priced and actually tasted fairly good. They let us use extra chairs from the bar and restaurant for adequate seating. I mention this because most places do not! The Strike Zone handled this over flowing crowd with ease and, again - smiles. (See pics) Check out was a breeze. We held the room on a credit card but prefer paying cash at check out. We were able to pay the entire bill at the counter, then use the kiosk key drop for check out ... no lines, no wait, easy as pie! As locals, we have stayed at dozens of Las Vegas casinos. I have to say, we really liked the price, the upper class restaurants and many walk up fast food choices, the casino layout, (especially) free parking, great service from the entire casino staff, variety of slot play, children's choices including Kid's Quest day care and bowling, and can I say, Wow? All in one place! We stayed four days without a single complaint! That pulls a full five stars out of me! Wish I could have made it 10 - and that's from experienced locals with 50 years of staycations. We highly recommend Sunset Station Casino, our new favorite...
Read moreI'm a truck driver and I've been all over the United States and traveled about 350,000 miles, but what I came here and experienced was really disgusting and I've never felt so bad in my life, I've been to many places in your concept, but I've never seen a group of people as disrespectful, insulting, trying to make fun of me and ruining my day as your security personnel, I came there to have fun, eat, stay at the hotel and play games, I parked my vehicle, dismantled my trailer, did an oil change at the jiffy lube dealer across the street, and then reassembled my trailer with the truck, I was going to come to the hotel and start having fun and spending time, you can look at the cameras, after I dismantled the trailer, I saw a security guard coming to the trailer, and I came back to her with my vehicle, I told her that I was coming here, I would only do an oil change with jiffy lube and then I would stay here, the female security guard told me in a disrespectful way, no you can't do that, take this car out of here, if I had come there with a Ferrari, would she be able to treat me like this,
Even though I told her, “Please help me, I’m a customer,” she did not help at all and called another colleague. After he arrived, I had to connect the trailer to my truck and leave. I didn’t want to argue. At first, I was told, “You cannot disconnect the trailer from the truck; this is the policy.” After I connected the trailer, they told me, “You cannot stay here. Go park near the other trucks up ahead.” So, I went outside, turned around, and parked near the trucks.
This was my natural right as a customer. When I returned to the parking area, I noticed several trucks similar to mine were parked there, so I parked next to them. Shortly after, the short female security guard and the male security guard, who had initially approached me, came over. Then, another person arrived, followed by yet another person. Finally, they called the police. Whatever lies they told the police, the officer politely asked me to leave. I had no choice but to comply and leave.
I am publicly addressing all authorities here: this was entirely disrespectful and discriminatory. Call it racism or whatever you will. I will sue all of you. My vehicle has security cameras that record both video and sound, and I will share these recordings with my American YouTuber friend, who has 5 million followers. We will make a video together to show everyone in America what happened to me. I will also share this in our truck driver group and do everything in my power to discourage all truck drivers from coming here.
I also want to say this: Just because I don’t speak English fluently doesn’t give you the right to treat me with racism. My brother served in the U.S. military for 15 years and fought for America in countries like South Africa, Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. You picked the wrong person to treat this way.
If you don’t believe me, reach out to me, and I’ll introduce you to my brother. But I will never forget what was done to me for the rest of my life.
Let me tell you this: I came to your facility but was met with treatment I did not deserve. I will share this incident with God, Jesus, and the American people until the day I die. This was the worst day of my life. You had no right to treat me like this. Your uneducated staff cannot belittle or humiliate me. Just because I’m a truck driver does not mean I deserve this treatment. I graduated from two universities, and I will not accept this behavior.
Friends, please read this and understand how I feel. Whatever you do, DO NOT come here under any...
Read moreI’ve stayed at Sunset Station several times with my mom as she has a tier status for complementary rooms. We’ve never had any issues until our check out on 11/27/24. Since check out is at 11am we got an early start at 9:30am. We put our luggage in the car and went to grab breakfast at one of the restaurants downstairs. As we returned to the room to gather the rest of our belongings which included some refrigerated items. Everything in the refrigerator was missing and it was completely empty. It appeared house keeping started to clean the room even tho we were not check out And the Do Not Disturb sign was in the door. Well over $100 In amazing take out that we wanted to take back home cause we don’t live in Vegas and $40 worth of my mom’s medication was gone! Their house keeping staff clearly do not have proper training on when and when not to clean out rooms. No one should have entered our room when they did not have permission to do so. Especially since we again had the Do Not Disturb sign in and we’re not checked out. I feel this was an invasion of privacy and it doesn’t feel good to know someone was rummaging through our things while we’re just trying to have breakfast. The way the hotel manager Rose tried to rectify the incident was not sufficient. All that was offered was a $60 food credit to spend that day at their selected restaurants and we were told there is nothing else they can do because we booked a complementary room. So we’re being punished for using a perk that comes with our tier status. And you can’t help us any further when it was your staffs wrong doing. That isn’t fair at all. My moms medication cost was already near the amount of the credit. And we just spent money on food because we went down for breakfast. And the food we had to take home was of a better quality than what they offered at their restaurants. So a food credit was not proper compensation as it did not compare to the loss. The way this situation was handled was unacceptable and I feel if my skin was a different color it would have been more offered to fix their wrong doing. If Their house keeping showed no respect or regards to the few belongings we had left in our room when it was clear signs that the room was still being occupied. I can only imagine if we left our luggage with valuable clothes and electronics. They could have rummaged thru that also. Since the credit was all they were willing to give. We ordered to go at The Brass Fork. Where the customer service was non existent. Our server Marina had a horrible attitude and just seemed like she hated life and did not want to be there. And on top of that she was coughing really bad. Which is extremely unsanitary when working around food. Needless to say. We will NOT be returning to Sunset Station. They will NOT get our business again and we will NOT recommend/refer anyone to their...
