11/2/24 was the first time that I visited Binion's Roadhouse. We started off with a 2 hour wait to get seated. It was busy so we understood and it was honestly fine. We went to the bar and got drinks and was hanging out under the covered waiting area outside so we didn't mind. We got seated, ordered our drinks and food. Food came out and it was fantastic. Best steak I had in a long time. After a while the waitress asked how we wanted the checks split and she came back with our checks and we all handed her our cards.
(This is where things went really wrong)
The Waitress was looking at the cards and I pointed that card went to the person sitting next to me and the Green card was mine and the last card she had in her hand she handed to the man sitting in front of me. He takes a second to look at his card and noticed that it was not his card. The waitress says "Thats the card you handed me". He explained that his name was not the name that was on that card and she went back to her station to go and look for the card. She came back saying that she has no clue where the card is. She ended up leaving to get a manager and the manager that came out to talk to him has no business working in hospotality. He came over annoyed and said that the card was lost or someone else has it. But they'll fix it by comping the bill for him. My friend explained that comping the bill isn't going to bring his card back to him. Again the manager was not apologetic, understanding or helpful. Basically made everyone feel like it is what it is and nothing he could do but comp the bill which fixed nothing. My friend got up to talk to the manager and instead of talking to him he had 2 of his staff stand in front of him I guess to intimidate him from making what happened a bigger issue. My friend came back to the table and went went outside and he checked his credit card app and noticed that another table had used his card to pay for their meal. He quickly went in side to talk to the manager explaining that his card was use and comping him did nothing since he still paid for a check that was more than his bill. At this point the manager was again not usefull. Threated to call the cops on my friend to leave the Resaurant. After another minutes of this back and forth the cops were called. Thankfully the officer that came out was understanding to the situation and helped get the charge voided but it was sad that it had come to that. Having a man like that as a manager has to be the stupidest thing on the planet. He was not understanging to the frustrations. He was not apologetic to the situation. He came to the table with an attitude and only escalated the entire situation. Even with the long wait I was really liking your establishment but after watching how these types of situations are handles I doubt I will be back. Sad part is my friend that had the issues had been going to your establishment for the past 20 years. Hopefully you guys can get this right going forward.
Update after the owners response
You make it sound like giving someone else your Credit Card isn't a big deal. Which is crazy. Its the lack of understanding and the way your manager approached this whole situation. He came in unapologetic and very matter of fact. If it wasn't for the rest of the party things probably would have gotten even worse. We deescalated the whole situation. We talked to the police officer and explained everything. Then we talked to your manager to try to smooth everything over. He was not pleaseant from the very beginning.
Obviously it doesn't matter what is said at this point. I personally heard such great things about this place and it was a big disappointment how our evening ended. But no worries, we don't plan on coming back to your establishment. Be more than happy to take our...
Read moreEdit 7/25: Thanks for reminding me after three months that I should provide proof I ate there. If you look I did provide receipts and you still dispute that my family even ate there... Get off the computer and go fix your restaurant.
The price did not match the service or the food quality. Everything we ordered needed a healthy amount of salt, the salad, fried mushrooms, steaks, were basically tasteless. The food was not delivered in an order that made any sense. Our appetizer was delivered before our table was served rolls and by the time we got that the salads arrived and main course immediately following. My daughter ordered salmon which was very thin and dried out. My wife and I ordered steaks and both her sirloin and my NY Strip were slightly over med rare, and had a tough texture and a slight taste that just seemed like low quality meat for a steak house charging 30 bucks. The cut was very un even on the Sirloin which was maybe ~1.5 in and the other side maybe a half inch, which would make it impossible to properly cook the whole steak. Additionally, wasn't really impressed that the menu didn't include a weight for the cut. Add to that the fact that the server never asked anyone if the food or the steaks were ok. The squash casserole which I was very excited to try was some kind of loaf of bread type something that seemed like it barely included squash and couldn't be seasoned to palatable. The server was friendly enough but she messed up the split ticket (dinner with the in laws) and she took mother inlaws water for a refill and didn't return it until we asked. Atmosphere was excellent love the decor and the old school peanuts on the floor vibe which the (whole table enjoyed). But sadly didn't make up for the short comings. In my honest opinion go to Texas Roadhouse, it is cheaper and way better quality. Will not return thank God we are out of Asheville and it wouldn't normally be an option.
*Update - The original review I rated the restaurant at two stars but giving the rude response from the owner to my review I will be changing the review to 1 star. I do not leave reviews for any reason but to leave my honest feedback. I have many positive and negative reviews left and none have asked me to prove that I actually dined. Given your professionalism in responding to negative reviews, I'm not surprised your business is in the state that it unfortunately seems to be.
Don't make a habit of saving receipts for restaurants, never been accused of making a fictional review and being asked to prove I've been to the restaurant. What I don't have to prove is your record of treating people who leave a less than favorable review like they are stupid or liers. Telling people how to eat at a restaurant? I have the utmost respect for service industry workers as I have worked and most of our table also worked on the industry. You are a sorry excuse for a business owner. Instead of an attempt at an appoligy or an offer to try and make it right you attack peoples intelligence and or integrity. Wow.
UPDATE: I was able to contact the store and obtain a copy of my receipt, and thus "prove" attendance for my terrible experience (will post). Additionally to be clear some of the issues were brought to the attention of the server, but they were hardly available, and again never checked back in on the quality of my food. The meal sucked and I was done with the experience.
All I would ask is for an appoligy for how I've been treated for sharing an honest opinion on my experience, and having my integrity questioned. A bad meal only lasts so long, you comments have left an even worse taste in my mouth. (Something you seem to have a record of looking at some of your...
Read moreThis review is inspired by many experiences that now I need to leave a review. I’ve left written explanations to the restaurant from previous bad experiences without any noticeable improvement. Today we had an issue with our order and asked to speak to the manager. We were then told from our waitress that the manager was too busy and wouldn’t be able to make time for us. How unprofessional!!! We paid our bill and left. We do love the food here and usually the atmosphere, but the quality of service and management need significant improvement.
UPDATE I am so happy that the owner was able to respond to the review, so everyone can publicly see how they handle their customers.
In past review comments the owner encourages everyone to speak with him before rushing to a computer for a review. WELL THATS WHAT I DID. He doesn’t even care that I had been a regular customer for so many years and tells me choose another restaurant…
The incident only happened yesterday buddy between 2pm-3pm ask your hostess if anyone left upset with a message to the manager that we left to go get a pizza. It will ring a bell with the hostess FOR SURE.
Well sir we did just that and asked the hostess to let you know. My review was very short and without much detail, because I was hoping your response was to give you a call so we can discuss in detail how my next visit and regular visits could improve. But since you chose to respond the way you did, I will expand further about your business I feel maybe a local Facebook group for others to explain their experiences without being bullied by you, may be in order.
So dam dark, you can barely see in front of you. They have to put bright yellow tape on every step so you don’t fall and break a hip. I’m sure that the darkness hides all the flaws, grime and mess. They keep recycling their gross used paper menus. Gross. If you’re not going to spend the money to laminate or get real menus then for Christ sake, please print new ones regularly. If you are going to give steak options from medium to large have the ounces listed. I ordered a large steak (🥩 industry standard is 16-20) medium rare. Came out well and the recooked came out the same, seems the cooks need a lesson in preparation. When I commented on the size of the steak 🥩 I was told it was 10 ounces. Well then that’s the industry standard for a medium steak 10-12oz not large. Also make your life easier and stop calling your potato wedges “steak fries” there is a very clear industry distinction between regular fries, steak fries and potato wedges. When I was told “oh you must not be a regular, that’s how we do it here” Sorry to inform you, but YEP I am in fact local and a regular, I’ve just been exploring everything on the menu so I haven’t had them before and what’s the point? A new customer coming in would be just as disappointed, when ordering from anywhere else they would get what they ordered, not something different based off of each restaurants interpretation.
Just so everyone reading this knows, the above observations have been an accumulation of visits, each time hoping for change. The waitress informed me that they in fact DO READ AND LISTEN TO THEIR CUSTOMER COMMENT CARDS. The owners below response is the perfect response to see how those cards are used and ignored.
I was really hoping that the waitress was lying to me that the manager didn’t want to talk to me. Which is why I asked the host to deliver the message. So the manager could be made aware of the situation. Now I see the waitress was in fact...
