They were nice people. (Not worth $75 for two people not including tip). However there was some inconsistencies. After we got our drinks ordered and the appetizers placed it wasn’t about 10 minutes later until they served us the complimentary rolls which were simply fillers and nothing else. We noticed some time had passed and we still haven’t seen our appetizers. There were maybe 4 other tables in the restaurant at that time and I believe most of them were either already eating or just drinking. Also it seemed like every employee from waiters, cooks, and mangers were just standing there talking. Before we asked on how our food was coming along the food runner came out and presented our main course. Probably about 25 minutes after we placed the order. Then a salad was brought out for one of us but we never ordered a salad and I’m not sure if it comes automatically with the entree which we both ordered one so I’m unsure why we didn’t get two? No big deal I’m sure I just didn’t read something on the menu. We were not disappointed with the main course regarding the protein. The potatoes which seem to come with every entree were also just a filler and nothing special regarding flavor. We asked the food runner on how our appetizers were coming. Which were no longer appetizers at this point. To which they apologized and brought it out a few minutes later. The appetizer which was the sausage plate was disappointing for us. I feel like we got a little bamboozled with it. Just seemed like hot dogs and store bought sausage boiled in water and thrown on a skillet to get a little crispy then a shot of mustard and some type of curry sauce to go along with it. The meal was a bit salty as pork goes so we moved our empty cups to the end of the table to leave a hint we needed a refill. We did not get one. No big deal. The server came with the check and asked us if we wanted dessert. Not sure if they meant to bring the check with them while asking us if we wanted desert. We said no thank you. They said yeah our desserts are weird. Hell of a sales pitch. All in all. If you just wanna try German pork and drink good German beer you will enjoy this place. If you are looking for anything else you will notice inconsistencies. I feel like this restaurant is simply just short of consistency, a little training, maybe a touch more hustle, reconsider prices, or increase the quality of food and not focus so much...

This place used to be really special for my fiancée and I. We dined in a couple of days ago and had a mediocre experience. The food was okay, and we always enjoy the pretzel and bratwurst as an appetizer. My fiancée had the chef salad and I had a sandwich. The roasted potatoes were a bit mushy (I’m not super familiar with German cuisine, so perhaps they are supposed to be like that). What really bothered me was that when my fiancée went to use the restroom, the ladies’ room was occupied, and a staff member told her to “just go in the men’s restroom and lock the door.” Of course, she was not comfortable with this and waited. However, when another female patron went to use the women’s restroom while my fiancée was in there, AGAIN the staff member encouraged her to use the men’s restroom. The woman reluctantly went in and of course, a gentleman had to use the men’s room and approached the door, which was locked. When the woman exited the man said “I hope you’ve got good aim!” I’m sorry, but we have social norms for a reason… I don’t care if you support the LGBTQ+ community and choose to sport a pride flag in your restaurant, but don’t encourage someone to use a restroom they’re not comfortable using. I was so wildly uncomfortable watching this and was super embarrassed for the other female patron. I knew my fiancée wouldn’t have used the men’s restroom anyway, but when I used it earlier, the paper towels hadn’t been restocked and there was no air dryer, so I had to go back to my table with wet hands. The atmosphere was just a little uncomfortable, and wasn’t as special as the first time my fiancée and I went together. Definitely not as welcoming as I remember it being...

We tried it today the 3rd time after 2 not so good experiences. We usually give everybody a 2nd chance, sometimes a 3rd ;) I'm a native German and I know my German foods and how it should taste. The waitress was nice, the food was alright, the potato pancakes where not freshly made these were pre made patties and pretty hard, the salad was good the Zigeunerschnitzel and the Cordon Rouge were ok, the spaetzle were good. The greeter was not friendly at all and kinda rude, he just sent us to the table, usually they take you to the table. While we were there, a party of 6 arrived and he sent them back outside to put the menue's on the table, that was not very nice, I would have just left. They had a staff member wrapping utensils in napkins while he was eating chicken wings (from another place, makes you wonder if the food in house is any good) took a chicken bone or something out of his mouth and continued cleaning the knifes on a table in front of the bar, that was not professional at all and kinda disgusting. Those were young adults with not much experience. I understand it's hard to find staff nowadays but that's something the owner or manager should address. The atmosphere is pretty nice though and the beer selection is really good. Maybe we give the Heidelberg another chance when we're up there, but we have 3 delicious German/Austrian restaurants not too far in Spartanburg SC and Greenville SC, those are our favorites. One in Greenville,SC is top notch, top quality...

Came here on our anniversary trip to Hendersonville since it was walking distance from our Airbnb. We went to Strasbourg recently and this restaurant was just as delicious as the German food we had there! I got the Zigeunerschnitzel (tomato, bell pepper and onion sauce over thin fried pork cutlet) along with the spaetzle- it was soooo crispy, the sauce was tangy and delicious, and the spaetzle was the perfect side dish especially once it soaked up some of the sauce. Plus, it came with a choice of soup or salad, and I got the lentil soup which had pieces of shredded meat and carrots and was sooo flavorful!!! My husband got the sausage sampler platter with warm potato salad (which was so yummy, mustardy, and creamy!) and sauerkraut. We aren’t huge kraut people, but this was delicious and perfect for cutting the richness of the sausages. For dessert, the Apple strudel and the Black Forest cake. We were sad we couldn’t try the peach Melba too but we just didn’t have enough room in our stomachs! Even the appetizer rolls were delicious and authentic. Dinner for both of us, plus dessert, plus a couple beers (which were also refreshing and scrumptious) came out to $75 before tip, which I think was super reasonable for the amount of food, the quality of the ingredients, and the authenticity. Brandon was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the atmosphere of the restaurant is just so cute and cozy. We might have to go back again on our last night here!

I really enjoy Haus Heidelberg! The food is fairly traditional, as far as I know. The specials change monthly and usually include a soup special, a schnitzel special, and another entree special at least. The mashed potatoes here are excellent. Fluffy and creamy and perfect with schnitzel or sausages. The sausage sampler is my 'go to' when I am having lunch here. 5 or 6 different half sausages and two sides, served with mustard and more recently a house made curry ketchup. The service is friendly and fairly speedy. The atmosphere is eclectic, with dark wooden booths, a ceiling painted with the German flag colors, videos of Germany on the televisions on the wall, and gnomes. See if you can count them all! I only have one small complaint, and it comes from my background as a chef. Most of the entrees are served with one big useless piece of kale on the plate as garnish. No one eats that. It's a waste of money and honestly doesn't make the plates look any better. But since that doesn't affect taste or service, this place still gets 5 stars! Non-functional garnish is just a pet peeve of mine! Oh... if there are sausages or other German condiments that you would like to take home, there is also a small deli on the side for you to pick up those items!

If you are looking for authentic German food, this is it. I absolutely love this place, been coming here for years. Took my mom out recently for her birthday here as it is her favorite restaurant. She spent a few years in the army stationed in Germany back in 1979-1981 and said this place is the only German place she has been to in the states that tasted authentic. Unlike the other German restaurants in the Henderson/Buncombe area I have been to, this one is the only place that has more than schnitzel and sausage available. They even run a monthly specials page online and in store with some of the lesser known foods they make. I have a tendency to get the sampler plate most of the time, as it comes with a huge variety, 4 entrees, 4 sides and a salad. Also you can get a boot of draft beer for $11 so why not. Dessert pictured is the Peach Melba, which does contain alcohol. All that being said, this place is very popular. They do take reservations though and I highly recommend you take advantage of that unless you want to risk a possible long wait.
