The food might be decent, but the behavior of one of the female staff members completely ruined our experience. She came to our table and frightened my 6-month-old daughter — to the point that she cried non-stop the entire time. We couldn’t even finish our meal. The environment is absolutely not child-friendly, and the way this staff member behaved was rude, insensitive, and completely unacceptable. I was furious, but I kept my composure and left quietly. Never again. It’s shocking how people like this are allowed to work in customer service. Completely mannerless.
I’m extremely disappointed to see that the restaurant is now replying to my review with a complete lie to cover up their staff’s behavior.
My 6-month-old baby was calm and happy the entire time we were at the restaurant. She only started crying when one of the female staff members came too close to her stroller without permission. The staff asked if my baby was a girl or boy, and as I was replying that she’s a girl, she suddenly leaned into my baby’s face — which startled and frightened her. My baby is not used to strangers coming so close, and she cried out of panic.
I politely asked the staff member to stay away, but she kept approaching again and again, laughing and saying “Roke dikha” (which means “Show me crying”) — clearly mocking my baby and making things worse. It took a lot of effort to calm her down, only for that same staff member to come back again, repeating the same behavior.
Now the restaurant is making false claims that my baby was crying the entire time and that the staff was “soothing” her — that’s a complete fabrication. It’s shocking and unacceptable that instead of owning up to inappropriate behavior, they’ve chosen to lie in public responses. I stand by my experience, and I hope other families with young children are treated with more care than we were. As a postpartum mother, it’s deeply hurtful to hear the false claim that our baby was crying the entire time. Our daughter was well-fed, content, and happy while we were dining. She only became distressed after a staff member repeatedly invaded her personal space without permission. The restaurant’s response stating that our baby was already crying and the staff “gently approached to calm her down” is completely untrue — our baby wasn’t crying at all until that moment. Their claim that other guests “witnessed her kindness” is also misleading, as the restaurant was nearly empty since it was close to closing time and only a few tables were occupied.
As parents — especially just six months postpartum — it is our instinct to respond immediately to our child’s needs. No parent can eat peacefully while their baby is in distress. We wouldn’t have even started our meal if she wasn’t settled. Babies under one year often experience stranger anxiety and cannot be soothed by unfamiliar people. What happened at your restaurant wasn’t an attempt to help — it was a violation of that boundary. I never asked for an apology; I only expect that staff respect the space and comfort of families with...
Read moreThis is a gem of a restaurant! Their lunch buffet is one of the best I have had in a while. I love how they offer an excellent selection of fresh raw salads (the kale salad is perfectly dressed, and another favorite is the garbanzo salad- both are absolutely delicious). There is a wonderful selection of Chutney, tamarind, raita etc. All of the hot items are outstanding and range from vegan (the Madras veggies are AMAZING!), to delicious vegetarians dishes and their chicken is some of the more tender I’ve had! I love that papadum is offered as well as naan. I prefer the papadum that way I can enjoy dipping without getting too full too quickly. As much as I try not to eat dairy, I have a difficult time resisting their pineapple pudding. It is absolutely decadent! Mustafa is a stand-out member of their team, very efficient & friendly, and goes above and beyond to make sure his guests are having a great experience. I drive all the way from west Asheville to come to this particular restaurant, although there are 2 other Indian buffet lunches much closer to where I live. The sweet pink velvet seats and decor add to the welcoming ambiance and wonderful experience that this restaurant always provides. I was there yesterday and already cant wait...
Read moreI recently dined at this fantastic Indian restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the overall experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance set the perfect tone for a delightful evening. The highlight of my visit was definitely the delicious food - the Taj Mahal beer was a refreshing accompaniment to the meal.
I started off with the pakora appetizer, which was absolutely scrumptious. The crispy exterior combined with the flavorful mix of vegetables made for a delightful start to the meal. For the main course, I chose the tofu Marsala, and it did not disappoint. The tofu was perfectly cooked and smothered in a rich Marsala sauce that was bursting with spices.
Overall, everything I tried at this restaurant was top-notch. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was inviting, and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious Indian dining experience. Thank you Mustafá
Came back for a visit today and The food was undercooked and had to send it back. Also, the owner has a zero dog policy and there is a dog in the restaurant. BTW the owner has no customer service skills! Really sad to run a business with this is my restaurant attitude. They have a new server that...
