Sai Saravana Bhavan – Herndon’s Best Indian Vegetarian Restaurant — Restaurant in Herndon

Food is very delicious. But that's about the ONLY positive, much as I'd like to add more. The staff are courteous, but the efficiency (& consequently the service) SUCKS big time. Had an EXTREMELY BAD experience picking up food on 10 January 2025- I placed an online order at 6:55 PM for the following (1 order of each item):

Veg pakoda Plantain bajji Samosa Poori/ aloo masala Onion Rava Dosa

The online system indicated the food would be ready for pickup in 30 mins (i.e., 7:25 PM).

I reached there at 7:35 PM. My order was not ready; I saw a Rava Dosa on the griddle & was told my order was almost ready. Meanwhile, a family member requested ONE additional item, a Rava masala Dosa. I was told it would take an additional 25 mins. I said ok, assuming I could be out by 8 pm.

Mind you, there was NO crowd there; it was just me, & after a few mins, another person came in & ordered a few items.

That person had his order completed in about 20 mins & went his way, while mine was still "Work-in-progress"! With difficulty, I gritted my teeth & waited there, with an unpleasant smell wafting in from the seafood section nearby.

In between, a Doordash or Uber Eats person came & picked up an order that was already packed & ready to go.

Finally, at 8:25 PM, a FULL 90 MINS after I'd placed my order online, my order was given to me🤦🤦

I simply cannot fathom the reason for such inordinate delay in preparing my order! Extremely inefficient & super-slow, considering the fact that there was absolutely no crowd there; the only customers apart from me were the other person & the Uber Eats guy.

Come on, does it take 90 minutes to prepare the items I ordered???!!! To top it off, there was no apology; while taking delivery of my order when I asked about the delay, there was just a casual "Sometimes when we're busy, it happens, sorry" with NO real intent to apologize. You were"busy", with 2 people's orders to fulfill??!!!

By the time I got home (just 20 mins away), the food was stone-cold.

I will NEVER, EVER order here again. I've never experienced inefficiency to this extent anywhere else.

I very strongly suggest that folks better be prepared for such an experience in case you choose to order food for pickup at Sai...

*Disappointing Experience with Sai swarna bhawan Place

I recently visited [Sai swarna bhawan ] twice, and unfortunately, both times our order was incorrect. On both occasions, they packed all four different types of dosas (Masala Dosa, Spring Dosa, Maysoor Masala, and Masala Rava Dosa) as Masala Dosa, despite our clear order.

When we pointed out the mistake the first time, they apologized. However, the second time, despite their assurance to double-check, the same error occurred. To add insult to injury, our order was missing sambar both times.

When we called to report the issue, the staff's response was disappointing. They shifted the blame to the customer, implying that we should have known better than to trust their packaging. The 16 oz sambar container they claimed to have provided was irrelevant, as we received none with our order.

Given these experiences, I'm sad to say that [Dosa Place] has lost a loyal customer. To improve, I would suggest: Double-check orders before dispatching them. Ensure that customers receive what they pay for, including accompanying items like sambar. Until these issues are addressed, I would caution others to be vigilant when ordering from Sai sawarna bhawan

Love the food only back out point is you can only take out which personally like in many cases but dosa kind of stuff you can't take away so big disappointment as you can not...

This place was our favorite for the last 3 to 4 years and we use to take out once or twice a week. We loved their food so much and enjoyed with family and friends. But…. lately for the past 2 to 3 months - their food tastes horrible. 🤮Especially the vathal kulambu / puundu kulambu / Oorundai kulambu have watered down - no taste, just fried onion and water. For two orders of kulambu, the lady gives one rice!!!! Says she put two orders of rice in one box - pathetic - you should be ashamed to adding just water to kulambu and giving only one box of rice and even justifying it. Do I look like a beggar to you to ask for rice every time I order ? I know my review is harsh, but when I see a good restaurant is getting ruined by some cheap management lately, I couldn’t stand and say nothing. In last 3 years, I have ordered more than 100 times from this place and under 5 times from nearby A2B. That’s how this place use to be. Now...
