Where else can you get a filling meal for $10 that's enough for two? At this legendary place of course. El Palacio de Los Jugos has been around for decades and its one of Miami's staples when it comes to affordable delicious food. They have several locations all over South Miami and this the 3rd one I've been to. It's a little far from where I live but it's worth the drive.
Besides the fresh juices, there's something for everyone here including traditional Cuban and Latin food, a variety of seafood selections and even Asian inspired dishes on some occasions. You just simply wait in line in front of the several food displays, point on the item, and then pay. Most combos are just around $10 and trust, it's enough to share. Plus the ladies behind the counter are attentive and swift. Although most don't speak English, they will do their best to accommodate.
I mostly come here for their pork dishes, especially the Chicharron. They're always ready, always meaty and always crunchy. I also get the paella or whole fish to take home with a couple of Cuban style empanadas fresh out of the fryer. They're not the healthiest option but dam their so good :) The empanadas are around $2.50 each and they're pretty big.
This place will always be one of my goto restaurants for comfort food. It definitely represents the Miami community and a great experience for any family or friends visiting from...
Read moreThis place was discovered by accident. A friend suggested we have a freshly squeezed fruit juice, not out of a can, or from frozen bags, but from the fruits made into fresh juice. What a lovely surprise!
The staff is pleasantly shy, yet friendly. But there is more, the name is truly misleading. I have no knowledge of the history of this place, but I surmise, that it started as a juice stand, and grew up to what it is today. So, do not be misled by the name. It is a food take out or eat in.
One remarkable feature of this restaurant is the abundance and variety of foods. From all types of meats (sorry vegan people), especially pork, pork rinds, pork chops, as well as seafood, beef and of course, chicken! All of it, is extremely well decorated, nicely presented, with a staff helpful enough to explain certain foods, if you are not cognizant of the ingredients or combinations.
In essence, "El Palacio de los Jugos" is not only about fresh squeezed juice, but also a welcoming different, ready to eat restaurant (sort of cafeteria) which will allow you to pick and choose your preferred meals. (Yes, vegans you can select a variety of good delicious, vegan alternatives). Truly, I highly recommend it, and would not be surprised if you make it one of your favorite places to visit...
Read moreEl Palacio de los Jugos is definitely a Miami staple, and there are some things that make it worth visiting, but overall, my experience lands in the middle, which is why I give it 3 stars. The variety of food is impressive—whether you want Cuban sandwiches, fresh juices, or full hot meals like lechón, rice, beans, and plantains, the menu has something for everyone. The portions are generous, and the flavors are authentic, which really does capture the essence of traditional Cuban cuisine. The juices are also fresh and refreshing, especially on a hot Miami day, and that’s one of the highlights of coming here.
That being said, there are downsides that make the experience less enjoyable. The biggest issue is the service. The staff is usually very fast-paced, but it often comes across as rushed and sometimes even a bit impatient. If you’re not familiar with the setup, it can feel confusing and overwhelming, especially when there’s a line. Cleanliness is another area where things could improve—the seating areas and tables don’t always feel well-maintained, and given how busy the place gets, it can look messy. Prices have also crept up over time, and while the portions are big, the cost doesn’t always feel justified for the quality of...
