I wasn't impressed at at all. When we walked in nobody said hello or welcome or anything. The floors and table were dirty along with the soda fountain and condiment tables. I wanted to leave but my family visiting from out of town really didn't feel like going to another restaurant. We ordered and when the food came, OMG! The ribs were cold and the sauce was poured straight out of the bottle. The sweet potatoes was basically baby food mix and the Mac and cheese was just cold macaroni noodles with cheese probably melted on them in a microwave. The worker who brought our food to the table dropped half of the hush puppies on the floor and didn't even bother to ask if we would like some more. Speaking of hush puppies. They were just fried Lil soggy overly sweet doughy mess. I'm not exaggerating about this so called bbq restaurant. The sandwiches were cold. That place is just a wreck! The customer service is subpar as well. I'll be surprised if this so called bbq wannabe stays in business. I know that as for me and my family and friends, we will never be going back again. Wasted hard earned money on sub standard food, customer service and cleanliness....

Country BBQ Express is something of a cross between counter service fast food and table service food made-to-order. They are one of many restaurants that are adopting the modern trend in furnishings, i.e., metal chairs, tables, etc, with little plush decor. The result of this is a shocking dose of cold to your posterior when you sit down as well as a LOUD atmosphere. Good for hemorrhoids I suppose, but I’m not really a fan.
The staff behaves in a competent but perfunctory manner.
The food is good, but nothing remarkable. Except maybe the tenderloin. Eggs and grits were fine. The biscuit had a good flavor but a tough exterior. I was surprised by the tenderloin—it was flavorful and really tender, so tender that I wondered if it was a whole piece of tenderloin or more of a cobbled together tenderloin “product”. I asked a wandering server but she had no idea, so I let it go. But it was definitely tasty and tender. They also have very good sweet tea.
It is busy and popular. Not my first choice, or even my second, but a respectable third...
Read moreThis is a new location opened in April 2019. It is about time someone came up with a quick service bbq joint with a double drive through no hastle grab n go for REAL barbecue just the way it should be made. This is the good stuff the way Lexington bbq has been serving it for generations. The barbecue sandwich, with slaw speaks all by itself.. with a nice fresh but properly damp bun with juices of the perfect slaw on top. Then they give you some sauce that adds the perfect sweet-kick for a variety of taste on each bite if you choose to put it on. The fries are also classic great crinkle cut, and a cold fresh soda to finish it off. All at a reasonable price and you dont have to be elbow to elbow in a traditional small dining room that a lot of the Great bbq places have. The service was fast (great, true bbq as we know is already ready anyway by the true craftsman Early while most folks are asleep). I wouldn't change a thing...
