On this fine April morning, the last of the sudden weekend frost having melted away as if it had never happened, a mother and her little boy headed into a donut shop. The little boy had just had a procedure done at the ENT, and had done so well that his mother had decided to reward him with his favorite breakfast food - a strawberry iced donut. Eagerly, the little boy picked out his donut and the mother picked a few more for the other members of their family. Though the lady behind the counter acted as though she’d rather be anywhere else (even, perhaps, euthanizing kittens), the mother refused to let the mood be soured. Getting donuts, after all, is a special occasion. She purchased their donuts and she and the little boy went on their way. If you are the sort of person that likes happy endings, then I would suggest that you cease reading now. I would love to claim that they felt whole after their mid-morning craving for deep fried bread covered in a sweet white glaze. Alas, the story ended another way entirely. The little boy (who had never refused a donut in his life) said that the donut was “ick”. The mother’s donut as well was dry, the cinnamon flavoring only barely hinted at, and the edges hard. But that, if you can believe it, dear reader, is not even the worst part. Sadly, no. The worst part was the donut holes. The mother had requested an order of donut holes for her fifteen month old son. She placed one on his tray and smiled as she watched him gobble it up. “At least one of us gets a good donut,” she thought to herself as she went to get him another one out of the bag. It was then that she discovered that there was only one other donut hole in the bag. Because in the crazy world that they live in at Granny’s Donuts, two donut holes constitutes an order. If you’re wondering what sort of maniac would do something like that, you need look no further. They do exist. The mother then had to look at her sweet baby as he asked her for more and tell him, “I’m so sorry, baby, there’s no more.” And the echo of that heartbreak can still be felt in that household today. The moral of the story, in a 3 year old’s words, is: “I don’t like these donuts. We need to get the other ones next time.” So, go to Intown Donutz, where they know how many donut holes go in an order. I promise you, it’s...
Read moreI recently went to purchase some doughnuts to treat my family. I personally don’t eat them because it’s been my experience that they’ve been too greasy, too heavy or too cakes. When I entered the shop I was greeted right away and was offered help but insisted I just wanted to look and see what they had to offer. The young lady went back to work and stated just let me know if you need anything. I proceeded to look and couldn’t make up my mind so I started asking questions. She was so patient and helpful. I decided to go against my no doughnut eating policy and try one on the way home and all I can say is……. Wow, Wow, Wow!! I can definitely understand what the fuss is all about. These doughnuts are heavenly! I think I ate one in about four bites. Then I had another and another. So much for the no doughnut policy. They are so light and airy and fresh you can’t even tell you’ve eaten them. They are absolutely delicious. Too bad I only bought one dozen that day, my family might have stood a chance 🙄. The shop itself was nice and clean. You can eat inside or takeout. There are a variety of drinks that can go along with your pastries or just by themselves. I took a picture of the menu so hopefully that will help. There is handicapped parking and a ramp for access. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who can appreciate the finer things of life especially in smaller packages. But be forewarned. Prepare to eat more than you except to. I certainly did. And I don’t even like...
Read moreIt's not a looker but most places that aren't are great. Pricing for doughnut holes, doughnuts, and specialty doughnuts are well worth it. Very affordable and not overpriced like other places and chains. I've driven by the area 100 times and never knew it was there. The banana pudding doughnut was my favorite of the six we bought but they were all good. Dozen mix holes were all great. I like the flavor of the dough and fillings have a lighter non-greasy, heavy feel like other places. The sour cream doughnut a close 2nd and is the best from other doughnut places I've had. The person working was very nice. update for 2nd time visiting- My mom and I stopped there on 8/30/25 for our 2nd time around 6:30PM. The 1st time we went, there were not a lot of options. This time, WOW! So many options of doughnuts, fritters, doughnut holes, cookies and more. Apple fritter by far, better than any fritter I have ever had. The lady working was very nice. Price is fair for what you get. Doughnut holes are not too sweet and neither are the doughnuts. Doughnuts at many places as just too sweet but this place has a great dough profile along with favor. We got there, there was only 2 people, as we were leaving, the place was completely full and people pulling into the parking lot as we were leaving. People call this place to see what they have and they know what time to call. Being we are not from the area, we didn't know and...
