My wife and I had been visiting a friend in the neighborhood and talked a little too long... such that the restaurant where we'd planned to eat had closed already by the time we left at 9:20 pm on a Wednesday night. We were certain that we would no longer find a nice place to dine at that hour. But, after searching Google we discovered that the Blue Goose Cantina was open until 10:30 pm.
We entered the restaurant at 9:45 pm kind of cautiously, expecting to be told that the kitchen had closed, but to our surprise we were told, "Oh yes...please come on and be seated... we are open until 10:30". Both the waiter and hostess were extremely polite and made us feel right at home. Our waitress was the sweetest young lady and patiently answered all our questions as she professionally explained the menu and food choices. After taking our order, our food arrived promptly and was delicious, arguably the best Mexican food I have ever had--a claim to which my wife agreed as well. I had cheese and sour cream enchiladas, along with a Blue Goose tamale and refried beans and Spanish rice. My wife had the combo fajitas. We drank water and shared a drink which I believe was called a "peach cream margarita swirl" (or something like that), which was outstanding! We were full in no time and asked for our check, which was a very pleasant surprise at only $51. And, we even had enough food left over for dinner the follow evening at home--and it was even better then!
But the most amazing thing about our experience was that wonderful waitress, a cutie with dark hair and the most pleasant attitude. Her outgoing and friendly personality made our experience the best. I wish I had gotten her name to give credit where it was due. I did gladly leave a $20 tip. And I hope she learns of this review, so she can know how wonderful she made our visit. We'll definitely be back! I hope to add photos at that...
Read moreI hate to give a bad review, especially when it is a restaurant I like but this is the second time in a row we have left the Glue Goose Cantina in Highland Village without eating and it deserves to be noted.
We were served drinks and my wife lifted the glass when she noticed something floating in it. Could have been a little chunk of food, could have been something else. The server said, "Oh my gosh, I'll replace it." Indeed, she did. The replacement drink was set on the table with an obvious piece of opaque material on the inside of the glass. "Oh my gosh, I'll get another one."
The third drink appeared to be clean. We placed a food order.
I'll bet the server walked past our table ten times before we flagged her down. Tables around us were being served, had she noticed we weren't? "Oh, let me check into that." Ten minutes later, the tables around us were cleared, the server hadn't returned and we still did not have food.
I wonder if anyone noticed we left.
On two prior visits the food was served with the server's thumb firmly planted in the food. Not the plate, THE FOOD.
Both times, the manager apologized and comp-ed the meal and we returned. However the last two visits we didn't even get food served. This indicates that the Blue Goose Cantina is operating on a much lower level of service than we wish to pay for.
I hate not to go back. I hate when a restaurant I enjoy becomes sloppy and dirty but I can't imagine that my wife and I will go back unless there is a professional attitude re-established at the Blue Goose Cantina in Highland Village.
I'm sorry to loose a friend....
Read moreThe food is always great at Blue Goose, and the service has been consistently good. I wanted to share my experience of phenomenal service and professionalism we witnessed on one of our recent visits. We had a young man as our server named Logan. Logan is exceptionally polite and outgoing, and has been our favorite server thus far. He is a handsome young man, and we witnessed some young girls being overly flirtatious with him at another table close to us. They were clearly a bit intoxicated. Logan handled them like a gentleman and used very professional tact in speaking to them. Although he was responding in a very classy manner, these young ladies, particularly one, were still forcing unwanted advances at him, even as far as touching him. His manager, whom we later found out her name was Claire, saw the situation and handled it with the most professionalism I have ever witnessed. She was kindly protective of her server while maintaining a high level of class and tactfulness, ensuring that her customers were understanding that their advances were unwanted, but their patronage was always welcomed, with respect shown to their staff as an expectation. I couldn't have worded or handled that better myself! I've seen this happen at other establishments with the genders reversed, but I was highly impressed that the manager took the initiative to handle this situation even though the advances were made toward a male server. More managers need to adopt this attitude so that both men and women can thrive in a safe work environment. Kudos to Claire and Logan for your class and professionalism...
