Twisted Gyros – A Well-Deserved Spot Among the Best
Twisted Gyros in Hillsboro has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a food truck, and its recent recognition as the No. 2 restaurant on Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2025 proves just how much it has resonated with food lovers. The Oregonian highlighted the restaurant’s “glowing 5-star reviews” and fusion approach to Mediterranean cuisine, which has clearly struck a chord with diners.
Having tried Twisted Gyros years ago when it was still a food truck, I was eager to see if the quality and flavors I remembered had carried over to its new brick-and-mortar location. After my recent visit, I can confidently say it has not only maintained its excellence but elevated the experience. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Gyro, while my cousins opted for the Bulgogi Beef Bowl. We also shared fries and pita bread with hummus on the side. Every bite was just as delicious as I remembered—the fries were crispy and loaded with flavor, the pita was fresh and warm, and the hummus was smooth and flavorful. The garlic aioli sauce was an especially nice touch.
Despite being busy, the service was impressively fast, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. It’s clear that Twisted Gyros has built a strong reputation not just for its food, but also for its great customer experience.
One thing that really stood out was the portion sizes. In a time when many restaurants seem to be shrinking their servings—so-called “shrinkflation”—that’s definitely not the case here. The portions were large and filling, making the meals not only delicious but also a great value.
The recognition in Yelp’s rankings is well deserved. The fusion menu, featuring everything from lamb gyros to mango habanero chicken and even Korean bulgogi beef, offers something unique while still delivering on quality and taste. The Twisted Fries, which Yelp specifically called out, are a standout and absolutely worth ordering.
If you haven’t been to Twisted Gyros yet, it’s definitely worth the trip. Whether you’re a longtime fan from their food truck days or a first-time visitor, you won’t be...
Read moreMY GOODNESS.... I regret not finding this place sooner. Decided to go here because of all the 5-star reviews. I went around 5pm which was a good call because it started getting very busy soon after. Tucked within a strip mall, the restaurant atmosphere itself was still light, bright, and cozy. Very clean. It was such a hot day so I'm thankful that they had AC that stood up to the heat of the hottest day of the year so far.
The person taking orders at the register was more than happy to help and explain some of the menu items. Thought I would go classic, so I ordered the lamb gyro and french fries. The gyro was massive!! It was filled with flavor, texture, and vibrancy. Very delicious, so much meat, sauces, and veggies, but yet very fresh and not to heavy. The best I've ever had!! The fries were also freshly fried and crispy on the outside but also fluffy in the inside. All fries wish they were THESE fries. 10/10 both in taste and presentation!
As people walked into the restaurant, many customers raved about the food amongst themselves and to others. Customers gave suggestions to first timers on what to order, which I thought was so cute. When the hard working delivery drivers came in, the restaurant (assuming owners) offered free drinks and food to them since it was such a hot day. Amazing people who care about their community and everyone who came into the restaurant. They also checked up on everyone making sure that the food was to their liking and if they needed anything else.
I can go on and on about my first experience here. Nothing but positive things. I really hope they blow up and find so much success in this restaurant. Please give them a try and spread the word because they...
Read moreWow. Went to this place on a lark today as I was browsing restaurants, and I was not expecting this random gyro place in the middle of a strip mall to be this good.
We got the bulgogi beef gyro and the veggie falafel bowl, and an order of fries, and everything was SO good.
The beef gyro just had so many flavors in it - a real flavor explosion. The veggies were fresh, the bulgogi was so tender, and the sauce wasn't overpowering. Just really really good. If you like gyros, you will 100% like this, trust me.
The bowl was also very good - sweet potatoes, red onions, crispy chickpeas, the falafels, everything just tasted very fresh and it all went so well together. It's the kind of dish you eat and not hate yourself afterwards because it makes you feel all gross and fat.
The fries were the double-fried kind that I just love. Sure it's not good for me, but who cares, I'll trade a few months off of my life to have fries like this.
And the restaurant itself is immaculately clean. You can tell the owners/employees really take pride in it. The eating area was clean, and the bathroom was as well, which is especially hard to do because a lot of the interior is white.
And the real kicker is the lady working the cash register/handed us our food was so nice and polite. I didn't catch her name but she had earrings in the shape of knives. She checked on us to see how we liked the food and even told us her favorite item was the mango habanero chicken which I guess we'll definitely have to try the next time we're in the area.. which might...
