Kokiyo Teriyaki #3 — Restaurant in Hillsboro

From the outside it looks like a bar or pub, with the heavy window tinting. Fortunately, the inside is just a typical restaurant.

First up, the freebies. They offer hot tea and miso soup. The tea is good, though nothing special, just your typical black tea. The miso is basically just all water and miso, not much flavor of anything else. Easily the worst miso I've had (though to be fair I haven't had a ton).

The kid got orange chicken, which he really liked. The flavor was pretty good, more of an orange sauce than the "orange" flavored syrup you get from the chains. If you like your breaded and deep fried chicken to be very crunchy, then this is for you. Personally prefer it softer, but that's just a personal preference and not a knock.

The wife got yakisoba noodles, which were just okay. Could have used more flavor and sauce. Perfectly edible, but nothing to go out of your way for.

Now, the best dish (hands down) was the spicy pork. Amazingly this is a dish that a lot of places don't get right. This was not fatty at all (like some places that use cheap cuts) and the flavor was delicious.

The one thing knocking some points off is that the rice wasn't very fresh.

Overall, next time I'm craving spicy pork, this is where I'll be going. Probably try something else other than...

When we arrived to pickup our food (online order) they had messed up one of the items and ignored the instructions completely. We received no apology for messing up and was told it’d be another 10-15 to remake it, so my partners food would now be completely cold. Additionally they charged an extra $2 because I wanted to omit a vegetable from the dish which was in the original ignored instructions. Ordered from many places and have never been charged extra for something like that. In the end after paying them the $2 extra, they didn’t even have enough of the main protein anymore for my food so we asked for a refund which they couldn’t do. We had to call Grubhub and waste 30+ minutes on hold, having to repeat ourselves again and again so we could get a refund. This place sucks. I will not be back. No respect or care...

Customer service just keeps getting worse here . After I get home, and mom is halfway through her plate she finds 2 big hairs tangled up in her chicken and veggies as you can see here in the picture. I called the girl that answered the phone when I called her told me I would have to go back within 40 min before they closed or I couldn’t get a refund like I asked. Or I could get a $7 off credit when ever I wanted to come in for another plate . What a joke when the plate is more than $7 and why is it my fault they don’t have quality control in their preparation of food. She said am just confused on what you want from this . I said umm what I asked for a refund why is it my fault I can’t make it in the next 40 min, so I can’t get a refund. All I wanted was wanted was a refund for just that plate . Anyways...
