Great atmosphere! Food that has the potential to be great and service that could be better. I speak of their veggie grinder sandwich made with the seeded baguette that is simply too hard to bite into even after it is toasted - I like the sandwich having had it at the Cedar Mill location where it is generally a lot easier to eat like a regular sandwich. Also, the service could be better with a bit more awareness - two experiences within the same week is a bit much to be a coincidence. The first time, I paid for the sandwich and sat at my table waiting for a good 15+ minutes only to see all the customers behind me getting their sandwiches delivered while mine was not even being made. After I alerted them, they realized they had a printing issue that caused my order to be missed by the staff. And today, I waited again at the table after ordering and paying only to notice that they incorrectly packaged and set the sandwich aside as a takeout order though the cashier had clearly indicated that I was dining in. The items are a bit pricey compared to your average place but then that has to be backed up with quality and service...

Contrast that with my egg and cheese bolo here - freshly butter grill roasted roll, tender egg, American cheese that had a little zing!
GCB also excels at bread making, we can barely keep a sour rye loaf a week in our house. If you see Como at Fred Meyer or Market of Choice or another store, give it a try. The nicest non-sourdough white bread I've had.
Many local restaurants work with GCB wholesale and I can see why.
This Cafe is nice with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, gender neutral and accessible restrooms and a wheelchair friendly height counter and pastry case. The parking lot is free but read the signs carefully as only part of it is. Downtown Hillsboro can have available free street parking too, subject to a busy courthouse or...
Read moreThe first thing that I always take note is the customer service and this place didn’t have it. My wife and I were rushed twice. We weren’t greeted as we came in but everyone else that came in after us was greeted. I don’t like to say it’s because we were the only brown folks in there but everyone else got greeted with a smile and we only got the bare minimum. They didn’t have white chocolate mocha but that’s a me thing for not liking the coffee choices so far. The menu says what each item is but doesn’t show what is in the meal. If we have any allergies how will we know what to remove or sub for? The food was okay, we paid 33$ for a breakfast croissant, mocha, tuna melt and a juice from the fridge. Worth the price ? Not really but things are getting expensive anyways. Will I come here again ? I don’t think so. Disappointed that this was the experience I got the first...
