Look, this is the kind of gem that you would miss if it ever closed. The front of the place inside and out is straight out of " a long time ago" maybe it was part of whatever "Spaghetti Western" is but there is no spaghetti in this place. The Hawaiian Grill is located on the end of a L shaped building. Inside, its just as quaint, with a curtain separating the front from the kitchen. I imagine that the staff (who are we kidding, its probably one guy that has a million crockpots going, and I suppose one grill) are busy cooking all night and day making all these delicious meats, and the recipes are down solid, and there is quite a variety! If you're squeamish about sticky seats and old formica table tops, just get your food to go. If you hate Styrofoam, then I don't know what to tell you. That's all they have her for dining in or for take out. You'll get hefty servings, and the $5 size is perfect for a lighter but still filling meal. Their mac salad is to die for. I don't know what's in it but it's 100x better than the other "Hawaiian " places. Yum yum I definitely enjoy...
Read moreWife and I stopped by because we saw it and had not yet had lunch. I am Hawaiian. My wife isn't but has learned to cook some delicious hawaiian foods. Hawaiian kine curry, lomi salman, lau lau, teriyaki, Kalbi, Huli huli chicken, all that stuff. There was no one in the joint. Finally a mexican guy comes out, then disappears again. I hear a conversation between spanish speaking people in the back [kitchen]. He comes out takes the order. Delivers it in styrofoam. The macaroni salad was pitiful- i've eaten hundreds of recipes- this was the worst -watery, made with watery cheap mayo. The meat was way over marinated- like we were the first to order any in a week. The only thing that was edible was the rice. I just got home. First thing I did was make sure we had lots of toilet paper. Don't waste your money. If you go to eat Hawaiian food, make sure the people that are cooking it have heard the words Aloha and...
Read moreI was actually speechless when I opened the food when I got home. I don’t know if you can tell how small of meat portions are here but the Kalua pig is maybe a 1/4 cup of food. The chicken must have been what was left on the cutting board. The rest is just rice. The Mac salad was probably a couple table spoons worth. And to top it all off the food was actually gross. The Kalua pig was watery, flavorless, and almost inedible. The chicken had a decent flavor but was dry and was just small bits and pieces. The Mac salad was bland and watery with a lot of pepper. I honestly don’t know how this place is still in business and some of these reviews show the lack of culture that some of these folks have been exposed to in their lives. 808 was the place that I usually go to but was walking by here and decided to try it. Will never go here again and I suggest you...
