We were interested in trying a local pizza location that was not a chain, and Deano's fit the bill.
Before the official review starts - let me preface by saying I'm not sure what tense to write this in. I saw a post on facebook stating they were closing the doors, whereas Google suggests they are only "temporarily closed" Which I hope the close is only temporary.
We started with the Carnival Shrimp and Crab dip. That was a mistake. Which I had high hopes for, arrived at the table piping hot like it was microwaved. It tasted terribly fake and "fishy." It tasted quite old and lacking of fresh seafood flavor. The server made it right and removed it from the bill.
She recommended that we try the meatballs - which we did. Clearly homemade, Dense, but tender. Well-seasoned meat that was not overpowering.
Next was the House Special Pizza with pepperoni, sausage onion, meatball and green pepper. The crust was the first sign we were in for a great meal: crispy and cooked to perfection. Thin yet sturdy, with a beautifully blistered edge and just the right chew. You can tell it’s made in-house — no overly processed shortcuts here.
Topping quality was top-tier. The sausage was savory with a little spice, the cheese melted perfectly with a slight pull, and the tomato sauce was bright, tangy, and clearly made from scratch without sugar.
Finally was Crème Brule. It was average. The custard consistency was lumpy and could have been smoother throughout.
Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is carnival / circus themed. Whether you're dining in or grabbing a pie to go, this spot is a winner. I certainly hope there is a future for Deano's
Final Verdict: 8/10. A thoughtfully made, delicious house pizza that proves simple ingredients — when done right — can be...
Read moreI recently had the immense pleasure of dining at Deano's Wood Fired Grille, and it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for an unforgettable meal.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Low Country Boil. This dish was a true masterpiece, featuring an exquisite combination of succulent shrimp, tender lobster, flavorful sausage, sweet corn, and perfectly cooked potatoes. Each ingredient was impeccably fresh and seasoned to perfection, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that danced on the palate. The gluten-free cornbread was a delightful addition, offering a moist and savory complement to the main course. And let’s not forget the crisp, refreshing salad that provided a wonderful balance to the rich and hearty boil.
As if that wasn't enough, the wood-fired cheese pizza was nothing short of extraordinary. The crust was beautifully charred and crispy, yet soft and chewy on the inside. The cheese was melted to perfection, oozing with deliciousness and leaving a lasting impression with every bite. It was clear that great care and craftsmanship went into creating this pizza, making it an absolute must-try for any...
Read moreA nice addition to South end! Went in for late lunch/early dinner on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. We had the brussel sprout appetizer, eggplant parmesan (nicely breaded and perfect consistency), chicken scampi, and fresh baked bread. Everything was delivered to our table in a timely manner and arrived nice and hot. Drinks were reasonably priced. Portions were perfect, even having a bit for leftovers. Our server was so polite and checked up on us frequently. It was refreshing to have such nice service in such a busy area. Everyone around us was ordering pizza out of the wood fired oven and it looked absolutely amazing. That will be a must have for us the next time! Our only regret was not sticking around for the dueling pianos that were warming up. It was nice to have unique entertainment lined up for the evening. The outdoor seating looked nice and ample as well. They have a happy hour menu as well. We look forward to returning to try some of the other delicious looking items on the menu! Definitely give this place a try as you won't be...
