Walked in before prime time. Occupancy was low inside and out. Ordered a Cadillac Margarita and Iced Tea, both initial orders were delivered promptly. My food order, Tamales and Chips & Salsa (not a free item here) were also delivered promptly by another team of people. This is where the process broke down. Refills were impossible. After waiting patiently for 20-30 minutes I resorted to calling out to my waiter, who still walked away. Asking his colleague (a kind lady with dark hair and glasses) to help yielded a tea refill and a new order placed for another Margarita. The tea was near instant, by the kind colleague, the margarita 7-10 minutes later. By this point it was clear the server I was assigned was either over loaded or something else was up. The kind colleague took good care of her customers while I waited. The food - tamale was good and authentic, though very significantly corn - far thicker than it should be with corn. Very little carnitas in the center. What was there was flavorful - cost optimization perhaps? At $18.50 in this market the dish was appropriately priced. Premium chips and salsa - the chips were not exciting - neither warm nor seemingly particularly fresh - the hot salsas supplied were interesting and flavorful. Not anywhere in the realm of a good value even here at $7 regardless. Cocktails - I enjoyed the Cadillac margarita. It was well mixed with premium ingredients and had the right amount of tequila on two drinks ordered which seemed identical in makeup. Consistent. Appropriately priced at $12 each. The venue - outdoor seating was nice. While within a strip mall it is typically Hilton Head like in that it's lush with trees and greenery all around. I enjoyed the seating outside. Overall, the frustratingly slow seemingly indifferent service experience hurt an otherwise OK (3-4 star) experience for Mexican cuisine based on my experience. I am very service conscious, if you are open to waiting for service for extended periods as is often the case in regional chain / tourist destinations, you may be more satisfied than I was there. Service - 1 star Food - 3 star Drinks - 4 star

Overall, the food was good here. Our waiter was very kind, and when the food came out it seemed fresh and looked like it came out directly from the kitchen as fast as possible. I ordered the Taco americano with a side of tortilla soup and both were decent. However, while the food was good, the wait for our food was around 30 minutes. The place was very crowded and took a while to get seated, but the staff made sure that we were seated as quick as possible. I had two Taco Americanos and both were very tasty; I especially loved the crema that was drizzled on the top of both tacos. The tortilla soup was very flavorful but it had a very thick consistency that seemed more like a bean dip than a soup. Overall the food was great here and I would definitely come again!

4.5 stars from me. Being we were not from Hilton Head and happen to be foodies from Kansas City Missouri we made it our sole purpose to find decent food on the island. We had read so much about the up and coming resturants that we were excited. Little to our amazement we found that most of the resturants on the island that got raving review were NOT good at all. That being said that was not the case with Holy Tequila! The staff while extremely swamped was still great and kept us worh everyone needs. The appetizers were to die for. The drinks were amazing and full of flavor. And to top it off the main dish was almost perfect. - Family of 6 spent over $110 to eat - Great drinks for the adults - Great home made dishes for the kids

Had a really bad experience here, it was the first time going to Holly Tequila. We searched places to eat around HHI, food looked good and drinks online. It’s also had really positive reviews. We decided to give this place a try, just because it was Father’s Day and wanted to make it special. Once we got there they seated us, placed looked really nice and everything. It was not super busy, it was nice and quiet. They took our drink order, came back and took our food order. While waiting on the food, we were all low on drinks. My sweet tea was just water, ice had melted from the waiting. My husband was waiting for a while to get a refill. Finally food had came to the table, I was missing my food. We waited a little longer to have the waitress to come back to the table. I asked about my food. She said she misspelled understood the order, she said she was sorry. So I ended up ordering another thing off the menu because my husband and son were almost done with their food. I wanted to get something they can make fast. Husband asked waitress for that refill. He did not get it until she brought my food out. And I had asked for salsa and never made it to the table. We were really upset with the service in general. She didn’t even bother to bring more drinks for me and my son. I just hated the fact that I had to ask for things over and over. I feel like it was a waist of time and money. Food was good, but the service was horrible. While we were there, we notice that we were not the only once upset. Almost every one seated close to us were just looking to see if they can get stuff as well, Searching for a waitress....They May need to hired more staff, and more friendly staff. They all looked like they were exhausted and slammed, but place was not that busy. I really just wanted to leave and eat somewhere else. I felt like we were an obligation to be...

Amazing, fresh mod-mex restaurant with something for everyone. I ate here with seven of my extended family members, several of whom are very picky eaters. We were all extremely impressed with our meal. It appeared as though the restaurant had reserved tables for several large parties, but we were graciously accommodated and seated as soon as we arrived just before 6 p.m. this evening (7/16/15). Our service was spectacular; our server was extremely friendly and knowledgable, and our food left the kitchen in no time at all. Portions are right in line with the price point; everyone left full and satisfied with a smile on their face. As for the food itself......We ordered a pitcher of the classic margaritas; simple, fresh, and extremely delicious. One pitcher served six of us, with a little left over. Our salsa sample appetizer left everyone anxiously anticipating their meals; it comes with a variety of 5 fresh salsas, from very mild to very hot. I particularly enjoyed the extremely spicy smoked habanero salsa; it was different than any salsa I've experienced, and it complemented the others very well. I personally ordered the taco trio sampler, which includes your choice of three tacos and one side. I had one chorizo, one pork belly pastor, and one "taco of the day," which was a variety of their grilled chicken taco today, all on corn tortillas. All three of my tacos were fantastic, but my favorite was the pork belly (grilled pork belly, habanero pineapple salsa, cilantro, onion, cotija cheese). My side was the Bentons beans (refried style); they were fresh and delicious. (I had a few bites of my wife's Mexican cheese rice, and it was also delectable!) I strongly suggest you give Holy Tequila a try; it has ruined me for all...
