It is very unfortunate how this location of Sweetgreen was rolled out and how it operates. I’ve been to tons of different Sweetgreen’s and have not once had a bad experience until this one which happened multiple times. Let me elaborate.
First of all, you do not interact with the staff. You order off of an iPad and they make it in the back and call your name to give it to you. This tends to leave the bowls and salads to be made very poorly with no care and small portions. They come out barely mixed and whole limes are just thrown in your bowl not even squeezed. You can see that the staff does not care on everyone’s faces which I believe is because they are not customer-facing.
My recent bad experience was when I went there with my wife. We ordered two salads. Her salad was mixed with the same tongs they used on my salad. We knew this because her salad tasted just like mine and had brown smears on the sides which was the color of my salad dressing. She’s also vegetarian and I had meat in mine, so there was cross-contamination because the employees do not care about their work and just churn out salads. I asked for a refund, and was told they could not give me a refund because no manager was there and prompted to take my information to call me back the next day to refund me. No one ever called. I reached out, no one picked up.
TLDR: Horrendous service, employees are there to collect a paycheck, they don’t make the salads in front of you and you order off of an iPad, portions are made poorly, unmixed, and are small. I’ve been 4 times and it’s the same...
Read moreI do not recommend visiting this Sweetgreen if you care about value or quality. The experience has become completely automated — you order from a kiosk, and your food is prepared without any human interaction. While this might be efficient, it comes at a real cost: portions are noticeably smaller, and the personal touch that used to make Sweetgreen feel fresh and custom is gone.
Every ingredient is now measured to the ounce — from the chicken to the apples and sweet potatoes — which results in a skimpy bowl that feels more like a formula than a meal. The portions, especially the protein, are significantly less than what you get when ordering in person at other locations.
It’s clear that this new model is about cutting costs, not improving the customer experience. It’s disappointing to see Sweetgreen take this route, and unfortunately, I won’t be returning to this location despite living in Hingham. I won’t be paying $14 for 4 ounces of chicken, that’s just...
Read moreWent on Friday, 11/15/2024 for lunch. They were clearly having tech issues as the line to order was very long. So we skipped the line, sat down and tried out the app which took several tries and about 15-20 minutes to finally push an order through. I imagine/hope that with the demand this kind of fix would come soon. (And we were one of the lucky ones as they simply dismissed anyone else coming into the store soon after us.)
The food was great for both my wife and me. I ordered the mushroom one (Shroomami?) and added chicken. It was great. She got the autumn harvest and enjoyed it.
I appreciate that the only plastic they offer are the forks (all containers are fully paperboard). I found the bag to be a bit of an unnecessary waste though.
We will definitely be back and look forward to a...
