I had a terrible experience at Burtons on Saturday afternoon. I frequent this restaurant with my son often. At least three times a month. When I entered the restaurant and requested a booth, which I’ve never had a problem before with, I was told that I could not have a booth even though there were plenty available. It was early 3 o’clock in the afternoon. It was semi-busy, but not bad. The young hostess was rude and told us that we could sit in the bar at a hightop or she could set us at a small table in between a lot of people. I declined a small table, and my son and I sat in the bar. At That point we probably should a left. I ordered a hamburger medium well and it came out medium. I sent the hamburger back and instead of cooking a new hamburger they put the one that I cut in half back on the grill and served it to me chard. When I requested the manager she told me that they always re-cook this same hamburger to save time. WHAT?? I informed her that I’d already been waiting 15 minutes to get the hamburger return to me. She didn’t apologize for anything, I said please take it off the bill and she said FINE! She didn’t offer anything else and she never came back to the table. In my opinion The whole incident was handled inappropriately. It will be a long time before a frequent this restaurant again. I always admired their staff and their management however something terrible has changed there. I’ve been in the hospitality business for 43 years and I was a palled at the way I was treated. If you’re a manager and can not handle the situation properly then you should not be in that position. If you are a waiter or waitress you should never send food back to have it re-cooked. That will have a direct effect on your tip. Burtons please train your people properly. that is why I gave Your restaurant a one...
Read more2024; Saturday BUSY! - Burtons started out traumatic in that it was very packed and seven of us kept getting pushed around by people and poor waitresses for about 25 minutes after our reservation time because woman at the large table wouldn’t leave even after being totally done ! The female assistant manager was “not very polite” to us regarding the situation. But someone, other than her must’ve noticed because when we finally sat down, the waitress apologized and said that they would like to buy us two appetizers for the inconvenience. We got the fried cauliflower which I’m looking forward to having again -everyone enjoyed it. My friends who had the soup absolutely loved it. One had the chicken starter and it was plentiful and delicious ! The friends who had the salads really enjoyed them. One man asked for his food to be really hot and the french fries were not . The male manager immediately rectified it quickly bringing back hot ones! Sadly my GF veggie burger was not tasty (the best are “Impossible”burgers.which I have at home and are served at another restaurant.) The waitress was “very good,” very attentive and wanted to make sure that the bad experience was resolved. We told her it was and thanked her. We went on to enjoy ourselves! We will go back ! Stop in at the nice bar (if you can get a seat?) Martinis are small. We saw Mr. And Mrs. Santa Claus at Derby Street and took pictures . The lights were very festive but for some reason, they no longer have the carolers singing at Derby Street which is very disappointing! Sad! More people would come to...
Read moreTreated very rudely by manager. On February 17th we made a reservation for six at 5pm. We asked to be seated away from the entrance as this spot tends to be cold in the winter. We were assured that we would have a table "way in the back." However, upon arrival we were escorted to a table right next to the entrance. When we question why our reservation request wasn't honored we were told that "some things came up and we have to move people around." As the group had not seen each other in a while we decided to just go with it. But, things got worse from there. One of our party was given a cold shrimp dish. While the waitress apologised, a hot meal did not arrive until the rest of the party had finished their meals. There was any further apology. We ordered coffee and desert. Just as we were taking our last bite, the manager came over to our table and informed us that we had been "sitting at the table fir over 2 hours. We are extremely busy and there are other people waiting for the table." Excuse me? We decided to pay the bill and never return. I went to the restroom before leaving and saw 2 large empty tables and other restaurant patrons who had empty tables, but were not being rushed out the door. The party next to us has not been spoken to. There was only one difference between ourselves and the other tables; we were a table of 5 women. Apparently, if you are not accompanied by men, you better not plan on getting...
