Four of my friends and I decided to grab drinks at this place. Upon entering, one of our friend went quickly to get a drink at the bar, while the four of us set away from the bar on some stools by the wall, discussing options of food/drinks. The bartender walked over from behind the bar and asked us for our IDs. We showed him our IDs. He collected our IDs and started to walk away. I asked where he was going, he responded “oh I have to go to the back and scan your IDs.” As he walked away, I watched him walk back behind the bar and place our IDs on the cash register. Another waitress walked over and they both stared at our IDs and had a chat. The bartender helped other customers and chatted with other people as he held onto our IDs. At this point another group walked in and ordered drinks at the bar and were not asked for IDs. My friend who ordered a drink at the bar was not asked for an ID. Somehow our IDs were collected. Finally, the bartender walks back over to us from behind the bar into the seating area and gives us our IDs back. Our friend had returned from the bar with a drink in his hand and was seated next to us. Another waitress (the one who was staring at our IDs earlier with the bartender) walks over and these are her exact words, “what do you guys want? Are you guys gonna order drinks and food? Because if not this is not a bus stop where you can just hang around and wait on your friends, you need to get on out of here.” We were so baffled, embarrassed, and upset that we couldn’t even formulate a response to her derogatory statements that we got up and walked out. She did not offer us a menu and no one else was getting the special service of a waitress. Everyone else would come in and decided and walk over and order. We were in their space for maybe about 10 minutes before they demanded we leave. No one was checking IDs at the door or inside the bar-we were specially selected from everyone in the bar for a mandatory ID check. And the confusing part is that we weren’t even ordering drinks. We simply stood there waiting for our friend to return from the bar. Our friend at the bar who ordered a drink was not asked for an ID. The group that came behind us was not stopped or asked for IDs. Our group of friends consisted of gay couples, Muslim couples, and black and Southeast Asians young...
Read moreSo, I never really like to waste my time on reviews. But I think this issue needs to be addressed especially during this crazy time we are all living in. My friends and I decided to take a break from quarantine and head to Hoboken for some nice drinks and a stroll by the water. We passed a few bars and we ended up stopping here for our first drink. As we stop outside of the bar the bartender yells out “put your mask on” mind you were not even inside of the facility and there’s a guy sitting right in-front of her with no mask on! That threw us off but we tried to ignore it and formed a line of 3 people. We all had our cards and Ids out showing that we were PAYING CUSTOMERS and we were left unattended for about 5-10 mins. Apparently we weren’t important enough to get properly greeted either. After 10 minutes of being on the line the young gentlemen tries closing the doors behind me. Pretty much forcing my friend to step outside (even though he wanted to order) and he nearly made a girl fall off her chair and embarrassed her in-front of everyone. I asked him if they were closing and he said no.. but then he continued to the close the door while i was still inside waiting to order... Myself and my very professional and successful friends are a group of mixed colored Latinos. I felt like they did not think we were worthy enough to be served so they had us sitting there like ducks. We didn't want to approach the bartender because we were trying to follow the rules of social distancing but when my friend finally asked her how everything works she didn’t seem interested in talking so we immediately left. Never in my life have I felt so uncomfortable at a bar or restaurant. We tried supporting a small business but I personally think they...
Read moreRacism issues. Once I walked in with my sister ( proudly latin girls) the bartender looked to us in a bad way, so I asked if they were closed, he said.. I'm not sure, let me ask. Off course they were not, they just wanted to confirm if we could be in the place, we should have paid attention to that first red flag, but we thought it was just our perception and decided to give them a chance which actually made us feel so disappointed. They actually treat people in a disrespectful and mean way if you are Latin or from any other country but the US. I just saw some other reviews where other customers have also felt discriminated and disappointed. lThe barman was extremely rude, we didn't feel welcomed at all, after he gave us the menu, he didn't even wanted to take care of the order and once we ordered, he just tossed the beers we ordered, then immediately he gave us the bill and then he didn't even received the money by hand, instead he grabbed it from the table and in the end we just wanted to leave, so we walked out with our beer and they stopped us at the door saying we wouldn't be able to take the beer we paid for, with us for no reason. Colplety unprofessional and rude, we had to ask why we wouldn't be able to take the beer out and he finally told us it was a law.
We hated the experience and we definitely would never ever recommend this awful place with that terrible...
