I've spent two decades living and touring around the world.
Leo's is at the top of my list for any country, city, locale family / date dining experience.
This is where Sinatra frequented, his hometown Italian cafe, from the 1930's till his demise. Many an eve Sinatra closed down, sat and visited with owner, Leo, till sunrise.
Every staff member, and yes, even owners, treat you like '..every body knows your name..'
The drinks ..oh.. my.. to the brim and at a price to make Dallas flush with envy.
The homemade family chicken stew ..to die for (..but good luck stealing the recipie..). It's rumored, this soup cures cancer. Certainly the flu.
Every wait staff I've met, young to mature, has ventured over to have genuine conversation. All of it was from the heart.
Ive met one of the owners, the lovely and aptly named, Grace. Leo's bella grand daughter. She's truly Italian divinity and of class, Grace, and beauty to rival Sophia Loren. Yes. If Sophia played a cinema cafe owner, Grace would play ..nay ..OWN the part.
On the 1st occasion of my dining, while Grace dropped in, this industrious business maven took time to come visit my table and chat ..several generous minutes of her precious time. This is a must stop if you find yourself anywhere within 50 miles.
In fact I've walked 3 miles on 5 occassions just to basque in the...
Read moreSince I'm a huge Sinatra fan and have been wanting to try this place for over a year now when in town, I finally did. When you walk in you're greeted with some great Sinatra memorabilia and the really cool interior that looks like it hasn't changed since the 50s-60s when Sinatra himself ruled the radio airwaves. We went for a super early dinner , the place had a few at the bar and dining. It's a small cozy place. I did wish i heard some music playing to muffle out people talking, maybe later they put some on when its busy. On to the food! As usual i ask the servers recommendations and he immediately said we're famous for our mussels . I opted for the mussel's with marinara. My family got Chicken Alfredo and a Chicken Caesar First bread arrived to the table hot and fresh as it could be, it didn't disappoint. The mussels and linguine were outstanding! Super fresh and hot and delicious! Some of the best I've tried! Our server was training another server, they were extremely warm and knowledgeable about the food and some Sinatra stuff like the chair above the bar which was really cool. I did have to flag the server down for the bill and my to go box but no biggie ! I'll be back when in town to try out some more tasty dishes, you can see why they have been around for 85 years! (Look at the...
Read moreOur server, Liz, was nice, however the manager with the bobbed hair came up to us and made faces right in front of us because 2 people in our party weren’t there yet as they were parking. She also instructed the server not to even take our drink orders until our whole party showed up and even after our entire party had come no one came to us because one person was in the bathroom. We waited for half an hour to even have someone come take our orders. I went to a girl to let her know we hadnt had our orders taken and she looked at me blankly and another waitress overheard and helped me instead. Food was average, they burnt our bread the second time around.
since she decided to comment back so rudely, which i expected from her, let me add that the server herself told us that she was instructed by her not to take our orders. also you’re the one lying since you never even came to check up on us only make dirty faces and take the bill. so shame on YOU. I also only said that we need a table for six and they did not ask if the entire party was present and seated us so that seems like a a you problem. However, it isn’t surprising that you aren’t at...
