As a huge fan of Antique Bar and Bakery, I would love to recommend Antique at 112 as well. Unfortunately, it fell short of standard in almost every aspect.
My wife and I went for lunch here on a Friday. The food was mediocre. None of it had enough flavor. We ordered three sandwiches between the two of us, hopeful we’d find a favorite for future visits. They all failed.
The meatball parm is uninspired: a flattened meat patty contortion on ciabatta that lacked all pizazz. The boring chicken parm on the same bread (or a bread as immemorable). Even the short rib grilled cheese had zero flavor beyond its burnt toast.
The table sauces to go with those sandwiches also were fairly flavorless or did not match at all with the entree. The BBQ was neither sweet traditional, nor Carolina. TBH I don’t know what it was trying to be. The other two (a milky buffalo-lite and the mole verde) had no applicable partner in our sandwiches or fries.
The service was fine.
Most crucially, the atmosphere is ruined by the intense smoke coming from the grill. The restaurant needs better ventilation. We had been warned about this, but weren’t sure if it was just a matter of opinion. After experiencing it, I must agree. It was overwhelming and caused a coughing fit for my wife.
We had to ask to move to a different part of the restaurant in the back to get away from the smoke, but even then, when we left the restaurant, we smelled like we had been curing in a smokehouse. I had a headache on the walk home. If you eat here, be forewarned that your clothes will stink; your skin will stink; and so may your mood.
The decor is indeed creative, and mirrors the Antique Bar style. But in light of the other aspects of this restaurant, I cannot recommend it at all.
Perhaps my opinions are somewhat tainted by (what I consider to be) exceptional food, and atmosphere at their parent restaurant. After a couple of attempts to like 112, I strongly suggest you skip it, and stick with the always exceptional Antique...
Read moreTldr: not Antique quality. Utter chaos. Mismanaged. I thought this place would be amazing since I love the original antique, but there was not much thought put into this place at all. I feel terrible for the servers and kitchen staff - they are trying their hardest to take care of everyone despite the mess. They have you jot down your orders on paper and bring it up to the cashier, where you pay up front and receive a playing card to identify your table... Lots of other ways to go about this. The playing card is not unique to a table, leading the servers to walk back and forth in search of the table to serve. Not only that, the number is so small, it is difficult to see. They use the same POS for take out and dine in, creating a long comingled queue, VERY frustrating. I agree with the previous review, tipping before receiving service is completely backwards. The staff all seem very frustrated, some are yelling at one another and fighting. Loudly talking smack about each other. One flipped everyone off and stormed out. Phenomenal behavior for a restaurant. 30 minutes, not even the drinks I ordered were served... one of which was bottled water. 40 minutes later, after the food came, I got the drinks. I was served stale, dry bread pudding. It was an insult to the quality of Antique. To top it off, the chef claimed it was fine after I sent it back. Super unprofessional and I'm stunned. The food wasn't bad, but it didn't impress me like Antique does.
The only positive is how kind and patient the waitstaff has been. They deserve a better system. Antique 112 - review (and consider replacing) the management you have in place, how your staff is treated, and the "system" used to run...
Read moreMy friends and I decided to try this place as one of us has ordered takeout and had a good experience, however after sitting for “dinner service” we are extremely disappointed and quite frankly shocked at the horrendous service and time it took to complete a simple “sangwich.”
Two of us ordered the rigatoni which was good but was different than the description. On the menu it said that the rigatoni contained sausage, but there was no sausage in sight and had dry chicken as the protein instead. About 15 minutes later the third entree came, the pizza. About another 20 minutes went by before our 4th friend’s side of carrots came (drenched in olive oil) yet no entree still. Finally after reminding our waitress, the final entree came out about 10 minutes later.
This is all absurd timing, but maybe would be a bit better if the place was busy. However, we are one of two tables in the entire place. They kept telling us the kitchen was slow, but our question is “with...
