6th Borough Salon — Local services in Hoboken

I absolutely love 6th Borough Salon. I have fine, blonde hair, and grew up with a mother who was a hair colorist/stylist so my standards are incredibly high. The only person I trust to touch my hair is my hair guru Gianna. I’ve been fortunate enough to have Gianna take care of my locks for 6 years now, and it’s truly the best decision I’ve ever made. It was an easy move to follow her over to 6th Borough Salon, even though I live in Jersey City. It is WELL worth the trip to Hoboken. The salon is impeccable, super clean, very inviting, and comfortable. This is very important to me, since my hair is long and blonde, and usually takes 4-5 hours, so I need to love the space I’m spending that much time in. I truly feel like I’m at home with friends when I visit Gianna and the other amazing stylist/colorist at 6th Borough. We laugh, chat, and sincerely just have a great time. I also need to note that the shampoo chairs are SO COMFY!!! Ladies you know it sucks being in the shampoo chair straining your neck, wiggling around trying to enjoy your shampoo. 6th Borough has the best, and I can just close my eyes and relax. 6th Borough uses Davine’s hair care products, which if you have not tried you MUST! I’ve never seen or heard of this brand until my girl Gianna was brushing my very easily knotted hair with ease. I asked what magically sorcery product could comb through my hair so easily and she told me all about the Italian brand Davine’s. I bought the products for color treated hair after my color, cut, blow dry at the salon and I’m hooked. My color has stayed fresh and vibrant (2 months after my service), and my hair combs wet and dry with total ease, adding shine and smoothness as well. All in all, if you are looking for the best place to take care of your hair; 6th Borough is the only place to go in Hudson county! Make sure to book your appointment in advance, especially if you want to my hair guru Gianna to work on your locks. Gianna has been my hairstylist for years. I follow her wherever she goes because I know I can trust her with my hair. She is always willing to go above and beyond to make my hair color dreams a reality while still being realistic about what is achievable at the time. Gianna has done many different colors and cuts for me over the years, which just goes to show how versatile and talented she is as a colorist and stylist. I love bringing my idea to her and seeing the end result.

I have been to 6th Borough a couple of times since Gianna started working there and have always been happy with my experience. It's a nice location in uptown Hoboken and easy to get to the from the light rail. The salon is clean and has a relaxed atmosphere, staff is always friendly and accommodating. I love the shampoo sink area because they have comfy ottomans and a cool black and white photo wall of famous people...

Bummed about my experience with this salon. I’ve tried scheduling appointments on three separate occasions with this salon.

The first time my appointment was scheduled because their new location was not open yet. I rescheduled based on their guidance, but the location was still not ready in time. Ultimately the appointment was cancelled.

Almost a year later I scheduled a second appointment just for a haircut. The appointment was great - the haircut was good and my hair was styled nicely.

The third appointment I had scheduled was cancelled two days before the appointment. It’s not easy getting appointments for haircuts in the area, so waiting weeks for an appointment to have it cancelled with such short notice is really a let down.
