Michaels — Local services in Holland Charter Township

Don't get me wrong, I like Michael's. I have shopped quite a few times at Michael's. I actually placed my first online order with store pickup last week. I ordered tulip bunches for a wreath I am planning to make. I ordered them because I knew I could count on getting them. This is one of my complaints about Michael's: I never know if it will be in stock or if they will have enough. By ordering on line and picking up at the store I got what I needed with no problem whatsoever.

If you are a knitter Michael's does offer different brand yarns. If you are looking for cheaper brands like Caron, Red Heart, Bernat they have them. They also carry Lion Brand and Patons which are very dependable. There is another brand, Loops & Threads. I believe it is their main brand they carry because they seem to have all kinds of yarns under that name. I am not crazy about this yarn because of a blanket I made with it. Turned out the yarn sheds like crazy. Overall, if you are looking for yarn for a non heirloom item I think they have what you are looking for. The higher end yarns would not be here. My only complaint with their yarn selection is that they have a number of brands, but they don't carry all the types of yarn that the brands offer. For example, I know they carry Lions Brand. However, I don't know if they will have Lions Brand Woolspun. I have learned to check on line first so I don't waste my time. The workers have always been polite and friendly. The store is always neat and pretty organized considering how much they carry. Returns are easy if you comply with the time frame and have the receipt. AND you can always find a coupon. 😉 I can't say much about framing except it was more expensive than bringing it to a small business in town. This surprised me. As for children's crafts I would say, I wish we had a store like Michael's when my children were little. Seems like you can get your supplies easily...

I wanted to go get marker pens for Calligraphy, I wanted all of the colors they had.. but they didn’t have a bulk pack.. just like 15 (ish) packs of 10. So I wanted one of each pack but they each had a lock on them with a note that said you had to ask for assistance. I ask the lady if I can have one of each and she rolled her eyes and didn’t say anything, she acted like it was such an inconvenience that she had to unlock each one. (I’m not the one who put the locks on them) Then I get up to the front to check out, and the total comes to just under $900 and I wanted to pay majority of it in cash before swiping my card. The cashier who was very sweet but clearly nervous to call the manager for help, had to call for a bill check since I was paying with big bills. Once again, the same lady comes up and she’s holding each of the $100 bills up to the light being SO dramatic acting like I came in with fake cash or something. The amount of time she spent “checking the bills” was absolutely ridiculous. She was SO rude to us in there. The rolling eyes, not speaking to us at all besides when she said “Oh, actually I have to take those to the front.” After she handed me a stack of the markers while we were in the back.

Normally this isn’t the location I would typically go to, but I’m always in michaels buying a lot of stuff! It’s unfortunate that the manager at this location treats...

I went to Michael’s on Sunday, March 10, to find a basket for my 3.5 year-old daughter. I found one basket that she really likes: it’s the flower fabric basket. When I was there, I saw quite a few of options.

I would recommend going to Michaels to get some crafts if you’re interested in doing some small crafting projects. Their location is off US 31 and/or of Riley St (next to Best Buy). It was a little busy when I was there in the afternoon. They were pretty well staffed and I didn’t have to wait long in line. The store was clean and organized. I would definitely go there again...
