Everyone who knew we were going to be in Florida for a week said, “You NEED to go to Café Noir.” So we did. This being my first time, I was impressed with the seating areas. Yes areas, both inside and outside were packed at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. I loved being able to watch as some of the dishes were coming together, where you can see through the kitchen. They also have an amazing bar and two sushi chefs working at a sushi station. It was time to order. I have to admit, there were some sushi dishes I was really looking forward to tasting. The family ordered the Noir Cauliflower, Caesar Salad, Mac & Cheese, Classic Pizza Pie and the Potato Gnocchi. Keep in mind, that was for four people. I ordered the Ahi Seared Tuna and the Hamachi Jalapeno. Let me just say, wow! The food kept coming out of the kitchen and we were all trying a little of everything. Mac & Cheese sounds simple, but the complex flavors and cheeses they used took it to a whole other level. The Pizza was fluffy and light, yet crispy. Both the sauce and cheese were different and better than any other pizza we tried till now. The Gnocchi were pillowy soft, with the right amount of creamy Alfredo sauce and chestnuts. It felt like a warm hug for your stomach. The salad was refreshingly crunchy and delicious. The Noir Cauliflower is breaded tempura cauliflower with sweet chili sauce that was almost addictive. These guys went for the homerun. The Seared Ahi Tuna was tropical and delicate. It consisted of sesame crusted seared Ahi tuna served on top of Kale with a drop of sweet sauce, topped with a mango salsa and drizzled with spicy mayo. And yes, it tasted as good and it sounds. The Hamachi Jalapeno is hard to make. You see too much ponzu and it’s overpowering the fish, too little and not enough flavor. The dish is basically think slices of Hamachi topped with slices of jalapeño, sesame, and special ponzu sauce. It was divine. Even one of my kids tried it. We also tried to drinks from the bar. I went with the Florida Love Potion and my wife tried the Lychee martini, Both were really good and refreshing. The kids went with an iced coffee. Though we couldn’t eat a bite more, our amazing server Anna Marie brought out two desserts for us to try, the Cheese Cake and the Malabi. We really enjoyed eating there and would highly recommend it to my followers...
Read moreI tried this kosher restaurant in florida and like most kosher restaurants I go to i was unfortunately disappointed by the food. Now let’s break down meal that was eaten. First i’d like to say i prefer meat over dairy and this was a dairy restaurant so i found it hard to find stuff and enjoy them. And although i am a big sushi fan this didn’t feel like the place to order it. So let’s start with our first meal which was the Asian salmon salad i rate it a 2.6/10 it firstly didn’t feel asian to me just a mix of corn carrot tomato and lettuce none of those ingredients really gave off asian vibes ( suggestion adding more asian veggies ex: edamame) the fish it’s self just wasn’t to good very fishy and although nice and crunchy it just didn’t have a good taste just tasted like someone had left over fish and threw it with a bunch of veggies and called it asian. next my favourite item the burrata pizza it was super yummy i say 8.1/10 i loved how garlicky it was and all the ingredients together worked very well and complimented each other i think the name of this dish speaks for its self best thing i had here would recommend!! fish and chips was a solid 5/10 although good i would say the fish wasn’t cooked right not that it was raw it wasn’t battered it was more just covered in spices these felt more indian esk. fish and chips has more of a plane taste that speaks for its self and goes well with tartar sauce this tartar sauce felt more dijonmustardy which i didn’t like. fries were very good reminded me of when i get greek food. now the bao buns i just didn’t like the veggies inside i found they were to overpowering with the sauce it was spicy u couldn’t really embrace the fish and veggies together cause it felt like so much sauce in one bite i would rate it a solid 4.9 / ten not my vibe. and Lastly my own personal meal which was the mushroom truffle risotto i’d rate it a 6.4/10 it was good but it wasn’t amazing grade risotto like you’d expect from gordon ramsey i wish it was a little less truffley so you can enjoy the mushroom flavour. service was good nothing to amazing or bad just decent and the atmosphere was nice but yet again nothing crazy or outstanding. in the end the food was just mid imo which lowers it i wish i could give it a 3.5 but i can’t so i have...
