DISAPPOINTED: The Hollywood D&B has been a part of my life for over 20 years. As a child/teen for many parties and field trips and now as an adult, I am the consumer. On 11/12, I was completely disappointed. 1. There is an OpenTable reservation link and 2 parties of 10 were reserved for 3:30pm for my nephew and godson's birthday parties, when my party arrived we were advised it was self-seating. It is extremely hard to find seating for 20 people. Had that been communicated or there was no reservation link our party would have arrived earlier to try to find seating. After having to split our party up into two different dining areas as if walking back and forth to keep guest and children entertained isn't frustrating enough, one waitress advised if extra chairs were needed, we would be able to take a few from the bar area. 2. Upon trying to take 1 chair from the bar which 1 of our tables was located DIRECTLY BEHIND(turn the chair around and you're at our table) the bartender engaged in a full-blown one-sided argument with my sister who was going to grab the chair. Instead of politely redirecting or advising her of someone being able to assist with an extra seat from another location she proceeded to yell and rudely tell my sister that it isn't allowed and to put it back. Which was completely embarrassing and degrading as this was done in front of the bar customers, family, and friends. 3. The first orders submitted were drinks made from the bar, our tables waited over an hour for our drinks and STILL were not brought out until after we asked for a manager due to asking the waitress for an update 3 times and watching the bartender take a total of 10 customers before even caring about our drink order. 3. THE NEW FOOD MENU SUCKS! It's designed pretty but the best entrees like the Fire Grilled Salmon(every adult talked about ordering before arriving) were removed and replaced with a new bacon Alfredo pasta which is sub-par at best. On top of being disappointed with the new UNIMPROVED food choices -- we all received our foods more than 20-30 mins apart after waiting over an hour and a half for the first round to even come out(we were advised that 2nd ticket of orders WERE LOST and never put in) and SOME people got their food and ordered fries all the fries were overly salted and none of the children wanted to eat them from the toddlers to the teens. oh, my husband received his food(full rack of ribs) once we were LEAVING which was after 3 1/2 hours from the time we arrived. 1 of my sisters had to send back cold wings and when finally settled for extra sauce NEVER received it. 4. Had to call the manager AGAIN and waited over 30 mins for someone to not really fix anything or even empathize besides saying everyone would get half off their bill to only comp 1 item off each bill when some people didn't even get certain items and never asked who had what after 'losing' our food order. -- The kicker is my sister whose son was the guest of honor lives less than 15 mins away from the Doral location and decided to commute to the Hollywood location based on my recommendation. As someone whom many people rely on to pick the best spots I am honestly embarrassed and saddened that my godson and nephew's special day was ruined by below-standard customer service, overly salted, cold, and multiple-hour late food, the only thing that partially saved the day was the waitress having a great smile and overall sweet personality and the arcade games. As a person who hates giving service workers a hard time with asking for things, overly complicating orders, and tipping regardless of service even though I'm paying with my hard-earned money, this visit was something I could not just slide by in the name of letting it go. Truly let down by a place I've held with high regard for over a decade. Please take heed and some advice to the customer relations/experience before its too late to save...
Read moreWe experienced several incidents during a birthday party on 12/10/23 around 4:30pm at the Dave & Buster's Hollywood location, culminating in my daughter sustaining a possible concussion and a subsequent trip to the ER that lasted hours. We had made an online reservation for about 16 people, which, upon arrival, couldn't be located by the staff (although this issue isn't the focus of this review).
After lunch, as the kids prepared to play arcade games, my sister-in-law mentioned a Dave and Busters app offer: purchasing over $15 in points (either digital or physical card) would net an additional $15. I decided to take advantage of this and bought a $20 physical card from an attendant (I mentioned the offer to her), attempting to apply the offer through the app. However, the app prompted me to buy an additional $15 to receive the extra $15, which was confusing since I had just made a $20 purchase. When I questioned the attendant about this discrepancy, she confirmed it was correct. I inquired why she hadn't explained that the digital card would have been a cheaper option (totaling $35 instead of a potential $50 for a physical card), but she insisted she had explained this (which she hadn’t) and abruptly stated that they don’t offer cancellations or refunds, even calling her manager over.
The manager, upon hearing my calm explanation of the situation and the fact that we were part of a large birthday party, seemed unaware of the offer's details and simply remarked that the points don’t expire and can be used in future visits. I was frustrated by the incorrect information from the attendant and the lack of assistance from the manager, given the significant amount we were spending. During this discussion, my 4-year-old daughter, who was near me, was accidentally knocked over by a 130lb+ boy running around, causing her to hit her head hard on the floor. In her disoriented and pained state, my wife and I struggled to assist her. She was hallucinating and close to passing out. Meanwhile, the boy involved left the scene. Shocked and concerned for my daughter, I discarded my card in front of the manager, stating I no longer wished to use it, only to have him react angrily. I thought he was to hit me, even though I was with my wife, trying to calm my daughter.
While I called 911, the staff offered no assistance or first aid, nor did they attempt to locate the other child's family. They were completely unprepared for the accident. We eventually took my daughter to the local ER, where we spent four anxious hours. Interestingly, after our departure, my brother called me and told me that the manager had added $30 to the cards of two other children from our party. He was probably feeling bad for the “inconvenience”.
I am not blaming the manager for my daughter’s injury, but his lack of common sense and customer care in handling a situation involving a party of 16 people—who will likely not return and share their experience—is the reason for...
Read moreFirst of all, the dining area at the time of our reservation was basically empty. There were only two other large parties. They sat us up against the kitchen wall in between where the servers entered and exited - they pushed tables together as if there were going to be 20 of us. It was long and empty and looked and felt ridiculous.
Secondly; they assigned a little girl who was on the job for one week to be our server, our only server. She had no idea how to navigate the service. We had to beg her for our drink order to start and she brought out the drinks one by one. I got up and flagged down another waiter, who took over the bar service so she could take our food order.
Third; I was told that the table would be ours for two hours and possibly more if they didn't need the space. After we placed our food order; we asked the waitress if we had at least 15-20 minutes to go play games. She said yes. When we came back our entire table had been cleaned up. All our alcohol and water were gone. The table was cleaned and ready to go for another party. THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I have ever seen!!! I immediately demanded a manager come over. He just started making the drinks again from the bar; the food came out at that time, no one had water, she couldn't manage to get it out on a tray, again two waters at a time.
Fourth; we ate and got away from the waitress and the table because we couldn't take the pain any longer. I asked the manager for the bill. My understanding of the contract was that I was committed to spend $400, of which I had prepaid $200. The first manager showed me the bill which was correct - It totaled $631 and change, he credited the $200 pre-paid and asked me for a payment of $431 and change. I gave him my Credit card and ran to the car for a second. When I came back a second manager was holding my contract telling my son that we owed over $500 and kept pointing at the contract. I had to tell him several times that the total on the contract was an estimate based on only spending the $400, it showed tax and gratuity. I was told that tax and gratuity would be dealt with at the time of the final bill, minus the $200 deposit. It took myself and my son and the first manager to get the second manager to stop. It was a cluster of a situation.
Needless to say the overall experience was beyond disappointing and I will never go back again. We were so upset we didn't even order dessert or sing Happy Birthday to the person and the whole reason we were there.
I never write reviews online but this one does need to go out there. The place is a shambles; it is run down and hardly the experience we used to enjoy years ago. The women's bathroom was so dirty my pregnant daughter in law went once and then had to hold it until she left. It smelled like the "elephant house " at the zoo and was too...
