TL;DR version: Superbowl Sunday, they prepared and gave wrong pizzas. They confirmed they messed up, gave wrong order. Promised new pizzas. After 45 minutes, called back and said not gonna deliver. No manager working (on Superbowl Sunday!). Call back tomorrow. After lots of call backs, manager basically blamed us, for their mistake. Asked if we still had the mistaken pizzas, after their employee told us to just trash them the night before (the pizzas were not just wrong, they were inedible). You would think they would not only refund the order, but also give discount on future order. They did NOTHING, other than a verbal "we'll give you 20% off one pizza in the future."
Full version:
Superbowl party. Trying to save them a trip, even though we're less than 2 miles away, had a friend pick up the pizzas. We ordered 3 pizzas plus a pizza bowl. Big order, and left a generous 20% tip anyway. "Are these the right pizzas?" friend asked. They assured it was, they were swamped, pizzas got brought over.
Open pizzas, and they're not even really pizzas. Everything about them were wrong, to the point where they were literally inedible. Call them and sit on hold for over 30 minutes. First employee was rude, cussed at us and hung up (note we had barely even gotten the problem out). Call back again, another 25-30 minute wait, a better employee knew the issue, they admitted they gave us the wrong order, wrong pizzas.
At first, they wanted us to pick it up. Which was impossible at that point, party was already in progress, with hungry people waiting. They wanted an extra delivery fee, told them we'll give the guy a nice tip (though we didn't need to). "Can you give us the old pizzas back?" "Sure, but 1 slice was taken already, are you sure you want these back?" "No, you're right, throw them out, we'll have your new pies made and delivered." 45 minutes more go by, we're close to halftime now.
They call back, "We will not deliver your pizzas." Keep in mind, we've been waiting now nearly 2 hours. Find out later that they didn't even bother making the pizzas they promised us, and used some excuse that we're too far. We're 1.8 miles away. They delivery to our neighborhood literally every night. "Can I speak to a manager, just refund the money." "Sorry, no manager on duty, call tomorrow."
Call tomorrow, get the runaround a bit. Finally get a hold of the manager, he tells us there's nothing he can do because we didn't keep the pizzas that were wrong. "Your employee told us to throw them away, they were inedible, I have 8 witnesses here and no one touched the damn things."
Make us wait again, he apparently calls the owner, who offered us a verbal "20% off one pizza next time you order." Note, even the manager admitted that they knew they messed up the order.
Call Hungry Howie's corporate. They inform us these stores are all franchised out, and apparently, there is no complaint department, there is no regional franchise manager. Nothing.
You know what, keep the $80 or so. I don't need your 20% discount on ONE pizza (oooh, $4 discount for giving us $80 worth of wrong food and ruining a party?)
If I could give this place -10 stars, it would be too generous. The store is pretty filthy, but at least the pizzas used to be good and service decent. But this last experience has caused me, at honestly all of my friends to forever boycott this franchise. And a few of my friends had started to use HH's for pizza, but every one has now stopped.
I hope my $80 is worth losing 5 or 6 long time customers. And hopefully people who read these reviews will think twice before ordering.
Honestly worst restaurant experience I have...
Read moreJust like every comment that is bad regarding this store. The manager that states he has 2 college degrees in business management lol thinks it ok to blame the franchise for the mistake of not having having orders ready. You order online and pay for it you show up when you’re supposed to pick up your food and guess what your food is not ready. But the manager wants to blame the computer system regarding that obviously I’m not the only one that has had a computer system glitch regarding my food. And then on top of that charges the card refuses to give me a refund receipt and his name because I don’t need to know that information. This is somebody that has not one but two business degrees college graduate lol. The service at this store is horrible and obviously I’m not wrong when everybody else on these comments has the same negative response to the store the owner really should start looking into these comments. Instead of allowing some little 30-year-old with two business degrees that just wants to blame everybody else for the faults of his store because he can’t get it together and be responsible to provide the service that was paid for. When I had my conversation with the manager all he wanted to do was act like he was not to blame because the customer was so rude because the customer didn’t have her food ready when she got there mind you it was already paid for online. Mr. I have two college degrees should know how to handle customer service better and if you don’t know how to handle a rude customer maybe you shouldn’t be working at Hungry Howie’s Pizza you should probably go into a different profession. This establishment is horrible do not recommend going there unless you wanna waste your time and not walk out of there with your food and it being charged to your credit card And the manager not taking any responsibility whatsoever for the faults of what he just did. All he wanted to do was blame hungry Howies franchise name it’s their fault not his yeah OK...

It's been six years since I last been to Hungry Howie's Pizza & Subs, and to be honest, I'm not that impressed with how the business was running. The staff seemed to be swamp with taking phone orders, making and packing the orders, as well as getting the ordera ready for delivery that there was no main person at the counter to take the carry out orders...so there's was a wait. When it was my turn, I ordered a 2-topping pizza and 8-pcs wings for $17.
The pizza was baked nicely with a savory tomato sauce, topped with fresh ham & pepperoni, and crust flavored with garlic & herbs. I previously stated on two reviews that I wouldn't order wings from a pizza place, and once again, I've been proven to stick to that statement. I opened the box to my disapproval of eight very tiny wings, which was too spicy for me to eat. I didn't know their chicken was buffalo style. When I checked their menu online, that was the only way their chicken was made. I gave them all to my son. Their bread was ok, I just didn't like the seasoning that covered it. After managing to cool the burning sensation in my mouth, I'm not sure if I'll ever return to Hungry Howie's. The food overall didn't...
