I am always up for trying new places. I always pass and this restaurant is always super busy no matter time of day or night it is. So I said to my self it has to be good. To my surprise I was honestly disappointed. I have had Cuban food before and it was awesome. Maybe today just wasn't there day. The white rice was very salty. The beef stew that I had the Sauce was very thick as if that meat was cooking nights before and refrigerated. The broccoli veggies was the ONLY thing that tasted good. Let's not even get started with customer service. I always give restaurants a second chance but poor customer service that's a no no. I will not be coming here again. Unless I have a change of heart. First, when I got to the restaurant I walked in being it was my first time I didn't know what to expect. I stood around for about 15 minutes looking like a lost child and NOBODY asked me how can they help me. Finally I walked over to a lady server and she told me how their family business operates. If you are eat the lunch buffet you just grab s plate serve your self and have seat. Once seated the waiter/waitress will come and take your drink order. Well once o sat down nobody came to take my drink order. I was halfway down with my food and dying with too much salt from my rice. After about another 15-30 minute a blonde hair waitress comes to my table and she just places a cup of water and walked away and NEVER came back to my table again. She went to every other table but mine. At first I felt some kind of strange why like why she going to everyone else but me. I started to place the race card in my head but I soon came to find out she didn't know a lick of English. I asked for a refill on water and she looked smiled and nodded walked away NEVER came back. I raised my finger so I can be acknowledged so I can pay and get the h-e- double L-L out of there. Goodness another freaking 15-20 minute wait just for my check. Another 10-15 minutes for him to pick up the cash and bring me back my change omg😑😒 The non English speaker who ignored me the whole time and never came back with my water refill had the nerve to point out the tip section of the receipt. She knew how to speak English then. I said no and just to prove a point I gave a $300 tip to the male cashier who came and cleaned my table and actually asked me how was the food and was I satisfied. I looked at him nodded and said no I wasn't. Then I smiled and said he is the one that made that while bad experience a little better. He came and show good customer service and was actually concerned as too why I wasn't happy with their family business. I told him of the cons and pros. He actually took notes and said they work on improvement. Specially when it comes to CUSTOMER SERVICE. So maybe I'll come visit again but no time soon within the next...

NO LUNCH BUFFET!!!

Jorge Rios, armed with the American Dream and a growing demand for Cuban food, established Señor Café in 2001. It quickly became a gathering spot for people of all backgrounds and blossomed into a local favorite because of its unique window service, LUNCH BUFFET, and home-styled dinner menu.
Given this was my first (and likely last) visit, I do the "normal" thing and actually read about the restaurant. My bad.
They stopped doing the lunch buffet which kinda sucks. 2 of us walk in on a Thursday around 12:30pm. Place is, at best, 30% full. Most are older folks (this is Florida so no biggie). Sat at a table, looked at the very confusing menu and ordered the “senor special” Cuban sandwich and the Ropa Vieja (for sides, I had the black beans and the tostones). Ordered ice tea (unsweetened) and was told they don’t carry that. So we went with water.
Service: terrible. A couple of waiters chatting and paying no attention. Once my food arrived (Ropa Vieja) and I noticed it was quite soup-like, I tried to flag a waiter/waitress. Many waves later, a guy comes buy and I order a cup of rice (white rice). Finished my meal and the rice was still not there. As we were ready to leave, the waiter comes back and says “oh. I forgot your rice”. No shit, Sherlock
Food: passable. Sandwich was as uninteresting as you could possibly get. Bread was not Cuban bread (maybe a roll?) and the panini-like crust was not there (bread was soft). The Ropa Vieja was ok I guess but it was a few chunks of beef swimming in sauce (more like a soup). Flavor-wise, just ok
Price: excellent. 2 people =$25+tip.
Atmosphere: non-existent.
Overall, would not come back. Not sure who highly related this restaurant but y’all need to branch out more and check out some...
Read moreI had passed this place(Seńor Café, a Cuban place) so many times, I had to visit El Presidente Supermarket next door and decided to go in to look at the menu. I entered, 1st lady just glance at me but the 2nd lady, stopped, greeted me with a warm smile and a hello in English, her name is Ms. Valentina. I asked for the menu and she continued to check on me, so I sat down at the front counter near the 2 outside order windows. Ms. Valentina and her female(she seems to only speak Spanish) coworkers were professional and customer service attentive. I can see that most of the people visiting only speak Spanish or English and Spanish. As I took some time to determine my order, I observed them providing excellent services to the various seated clients and all the outside window walk up client’s/ takeouts. To start, I requested a lighty sweetened Cuban coffee and a glass of water. After which I settled on the fried Red Snapper with green plantains: tostones with a garlic side dressing and black beans(which is vegan, no meat) served like a yummy soup. The red snapper was large. It took me a while to consume it. The black beans were delicious and the tostones were perfect. I finished up my meal with a delicious cappuccino topped with whip cream and cinnamon. * side note: I completely forgot to take pictures lol!!! While chatting with Ms. Valentina, I asked of the various pastries at the front window. They have pastries with ham, or with beef or with chicken or with only cheese. Others are coconut or guava, which are two of my favorites with Cuban coffee. Whenever you are in the area, stop in and check out the menu or have a coffee and meet some friendly faces. There is private security patrolling the premises, which is a...
