Dave's Pizza — Restaurant in Homewood

We arrived with a group of 7 and were seated immediately. I asked for tea. They don't offer tea. Or coffee. Beverages appear to be limited to sodas, water, beer, and wine. So water it was. The room was fairly full and stupefyingly loud. Loud enough that it was impossible to hold a conversation with the people sitting immediately next to me. We ordered four pizzas. While we waited, we had the opportunity to take in the surroundings. About 7 or 8 TV's were hung around the place, tuned of course to any of a few sports channels. No one appeared to be paying any attention to any of the TV's; most patrons were shouting to one another over the din created by the shouting of all the other patrons and the thundering bass of the music playing in the background. There are many ceiling fans. The one above our table was going full-blast -- to the point that we commented on our feeling as though we were uncomfortable -- like being stranded outdoors in a gale. After multiple complaints, we were told the owner expressly forbids the staff from touching the fan controls or music volume. Because the customer is always right. Or not. Anyway, just like clockwork, the pizzas arrived...45 minutes after we placed our order. And 3 of the 4 pizzas were excellent, just superb. The other was a mistake -- a thin and crispy crust ordered, a deep dish delivered. But the taste was good and all was relatively right with the world.

So in sum: Dave's is A LOUD, breezy, slow place to enjoy an excellent -- if somewhat pricey -- pizza. Theirs is among the top pizzas I've ever had in Birmingham. The question is whether it's worth the premium to endure the wait, the limitations, and the various discomforts to enjoy the pies. Me? I...

Went to Dave's pizza on 11-4-2020. Got the all you can eat for $10 deal. Waitress took my credit card for payment, took a very long time bringing it back. At that time she said they screwed up running the card, so the meal was on the house. I thanked her and stated leaving. After getting out the door I checked my bank card on my mobile app. They didn't charge me $10, they charged me for $29.96 !!!!! I was shocked!! I immediately went back in and ask what was going on with my card. Apparently they charged my card for someone else's ticket. They said it was canceled and wouldn't come out of my account, it may not come out eventually but for 5 days now it's showing as a pending transaction. The $29.96 is not available to me as long as it shows as a pending transaction. I called Dave's on 11-5-2020 and talked to Brad I believe. He said it would fall off pending transaction list that night. #1. Dave's should have told me upfront about this mistake. #2. I should have been offered the overcharge back from cash register.

I'll never eat there again, hiding the fact they overcharged me with a smile and a free meal that so far has...

First of all, I have been to Dave's several times and the food was fine. This time it wasn't. The large pizza was the size of a medium even though the waitress assured me it was a large. The waitress gave me the wrong bill, it didn't include my drinks. Being an honest guy I told her and she corrected the mistake. When I checked my credit card statement it had 2 charges, neither of them the correct one. Called the store and left a message for the manager. Late in the day I hadn't heard back so I called and told the manager of the situation.

Today, when I looked at my statement it showed the correct bill but one of the others was still showing so I called the store. I didn't speak to the manager but the person who answered was looking into it. When I mentioned my dissatisfaction with the pizza he started cursing at me, calling me names and was extremely rude.

I have never had a situation like this before and will never return to Dave's and advise me friends of...
