Paramount - Homewood — Restaurant in Homewood

Poor customer service. I came into paramount yesterday evening for the first time along with my boyfriend and little sister. We were seated and our waitress came to take our drink orders. She came back shortly with their drinks and mine came from the bar shortly after theirs. It didn’t take us long to decide on what we wanted but it took a while for our waitress to come back to take our order. By no means was the restaurant busy and she walked past us multiple times assisting a table not far from ours in the same section. When she did come back to take our order I told her what my little sister and I wanted and let her know that my boyfriend had decided not to order anything. I didn’t hear what she said but when she walked away he told me that she had responded with an attitude when he told her he wasn’t going to order. The food didn’t take long to come out but it was someone other than our waitress who brought our food. After our food order was taken we didn’t see our waitress for the rest of our meal. I intended to order another drink but she never came back to check in. My burger was also mostly pink and I wanted to ask if it could’ve been cooked a little longer but I didn’t get the opportunity. The main reason we went to paramount was so that my 5 year old sister could play some of the arcade games and we intended to ask where we could get quarters for the games but again our waitress did not come back to our table but walked past us again several times. My boyfriend eventually asked another server to let her know that we were ready for the check and he ended up going to get it himself and bringing it to us. We paid and asked for a to go box which he also brought and did not see our waitress again until we walked out of the door. This was the worst service experience I have ever had. I would like to chalk it up to my server (AJ) having a bad day, but as a server myself, I have never treated any guest that way and never plan to. After asking for a moment to view the menu, our server returned to the table to ask derisively "are you ready now." We then ordered and ate our food. Once it was time to check out we asked to split our checks. Once she dropped our checks another guy who l assume was another server came to take our payment and said that our server was in the bathroom. All of our cards weren't even on the table yet because we needed a togo box so we felt rushed in this moment. He then took our checks and set them on the counter. After waiting for a while we then asked for our server to return our cards (she had been back on the floor multiple times at this point) and she rudely responded with "I haven't ran it yet." I don't understand why someone else would pick up our cards to only have them sitting there on an open counter if you were in such a rush to grab them in the first place? My friends and I have never felt so unwelcome in any restaurant. I was hesitant to write this review because I don't like writing bad reviews but I would 100% recommend the downtown location over this one any day. Judging by the other review from today saying they had bad service as well I think it's apparent that these people need to be retrained on customer service. We didn’t even bother speaking to a manger because there seemed to be a commonality between most of the workers that we came into contact with… and we weren’t looking for comps, gifts, or a reason to return. So excited for this restaurant to be open! We came in for lunch and was greeting by super friendly staff. Their menu, like the downtown location, is excellent. I had the backyard tacos- 10/10, some of the best french fries in town and definitely recommend the sweet potato chips- perfectly balance of sweet, salty and spicy.
