My Sister Rayna somehow found this little gem in Honesdale. She loved it. She was actually passionate about it. The food, the desserts and the owners! She insisted on taking everyone there. She had 5 different groups of friends from various activities and High School. Everyone loved it a went multiple times. Rayna was very outgoing and loved to compliment everyone and everything for a job well done. The owners grew to know her and always came to her table, even if it was just a minute to say hello, meet the friends and say thank you! She owned a cabin on Lake Wallenpaupack and tried to get me there many times. I have stomach problems and kept saying next time. We have two cousins that we got reacquainted with after many years and would try and do lunch at least every 6 weeks. They wanted to go so I finally caved and said yes. There really wasn't much I could eat and I'm not a ham person but when I saw Black Forest ham it sounded good. It was the absolute BEST sandwich I've ever had. Everyone loved there meals! I The owner came to the table and talked to us. We talked for awhile and met his wife. Beautiful people! I could not resist a look into their dessert case. I saw the cinnamon rolls and had to have one. No exaggeration, it was the BEST I've ever had and I have tried many. I am extremely happy that I finally went. We wanted to get together and go again, but couldn't all get the right time. I am so, so very that God blessed me with a good day. We for sure we're going this summer! Unfortunately, my beautiful, wonderful, kind and generous big Sister passed away on March 1st. My life will never be the same. I will miss her and cherish our lifetime memories until The Lord decides it's my time and we are reunited. 💝 My cousins and I are going to this amazing little gem tomorrow in my Sister's memory and to celebrate what an amazing woman she was. This is probably the longest review anyone ever wrote, but it was something I wanted to share. 😊 Rayna's little...
Read moreI can’t overstate how terrible our experience was here. And judging from the owner’s responses to negative reviews here, I’m sure they’ll discount this one as well, but beware. I could tell immediately upon sitting down that the grumpy woman running the front of the house was annoyed that my wife and I walked in with our 2 young kids. The service was a little slow, but not egregiously so. The food was also pretty tasty, though the waffles my kids ordered came garnished with parsley (?). My kids are admittedly picky eaters, so obviously that didn’t go over well. I was just baffled by the decision to put parsley on a sweet dish. When I went to pay for our food, I politely suggested they lose the parsley on the waffle dish, the grumpy woman rudely told me I should tell the chef directly. When I said I thought she could relay the message, she brought the chef (also grumpy) out and I repeated what I had said to her. The chef responded (also rudely) that he’s been “doing it for 20 years” and “there wasn’t any parsley on the actual waffle” (there was). As we were gathering our things to leave, the woman actually said this to us, “Can I give you a suggestion? You should pay more attention to your kids and less time on the computer” (my wife works remotely and was sending a work email on her laptop). She also suggested my kids were badly behaved (they weren’t, minus a mini freak out about the weird parsley). I was shocked. On our way out, I put a tip in the tip jar and said that I was still giving a tip even though we were being spoken to like that, and the woman said something to the effect of “Well, you weren’t going to.” My wife and I both worked in the restaurant industry, and we’ve never experienced anything like this. I’d avoid this place like the plague. There are several other cute places for a bite in the area where the staff treats their customers...
Read moreAfter waiting for 10 minutes to even be noticed for our order, she told me it would be a little bit of a wait. As I looked around 5 tables with customers as her and her partner took turns creating the meals. Once she addressed me I could instantly feel that I wasn't the ideal clientele. She seemed bothered as I explained it was our first visit to her place. She did not welcome me or add any suggestions, just handed me a menu and I asked if I should be seated and she said I could sit at any table. We chose a few drinks before we sat. A cappuccino and a mochachino, they were quite flavorless and im not one who likes sugary drinks. They tasted of old coffee and cocoa powder. We then ordered ham & Swiss and the French onion soup as we didn't realize until reaching the register it was cash only. The people who came in awhile after us received their food before we did. (Note: the ham and Swiss wasn't even cooked it was basically a salad and ham and Swiss piled onto a tiny baguette. Best eaten with a fork) the soup was way too salty and the cheese had to be cut with a knife it was so tough and thick. Lastly the decor was as if they raided a salvation army store. The cases that we assumed would contain food contained junk tchotchkes, serving trays, and the occasional desserts. The overall experience in my opinion was miserable and we will not be returning and do not recommend anyone under the age of 50 return either due to likely being subjected to discrimination...
