If you often have cravings for Korean Chinese dishes like Jjamppong or Jajangmyeon, the On Dong restaurant will soon become one of your favorites. Staffed by Korean ajummas, the service is fast, attentive and efficient. The ambiance is simple, casual and comfortable. The dishes we often order are the Jajangmyeon, Jjamppong, Tangsuyuk, and fried mandoo (pot stickers). All of them are so addictive! On Dong has always satiated our need for authentic and delicious Korean Chinese food. We’ve been loyal customers of the Eastern Paradise restaurant for decades, but when the kind owners retired at the end of 2024, we thought we would struggle to find a new place to satisfy our Korean Chinese food cravings. To our pleasant surprise, On Dong consistently brought familiar nods, smiles and a contented silence to the table as we were so focused on savoring our tasty meals there. Dine-in or takeout, you’ll be glad you came by.

My go to when im craving seafood black noodle and sweet sour pork in Honolulu. Sign on the outside says Northern Chinese Cuisine but they serve kim chee, takuan and onions with black bean paste as starters. There are other similar restaurants in Oahu but this is the best🤙Portions and taste makes you come back for more, everything is served hot and right out of the kitchen. Parking can be tough during the day but evening free street parking is available. Service is adequate, when its busy you just have to flag them down. 5 stars🤙🤙🤙

I've tried all the "best" Korean Chinese restaurants in the West Coast including LA and Vegas, but none compare to An Dong Ban Jum. I grew up eating at this place almost once a month in the 90s and 2000s and never realized how good it was till I left Honolulu. Their JJM (black bean noodles), Gan Poong Chicken, Tang Su Yeok are amazing with that signature wok hei. Hope this place stays open for another 30 years so I can keep visiting and taking my kids when they're old enough to appreciate the quality.

The food was fairly enjoyable. The problem with this place rests in the fact that they might have thieves within the workforce. A friend of mine forgot his wallet in the restaurant as he was tipping the waitress. I return asking for the wallet very politely. Second, I call. She recognizes it is me the gets frustrated...The shameful part is this time I am speaking with the head lady. She is questioning why I am calling again. My friend was sure the restaurant was the last place the wallet had been. I return for a third time and her to simply ask if I can have the wallet back, very politely, explaining this restaurant was the last place he had placed it because he tipped the woman then left and the wallet was left behind. Her tone and facial expressions were exact with a thief or a liar. (f.b.i. documentaries) shaking vegetables when I was calm, smurking me, answering me with answers I did not ask, and all I asked for was a wallet. I never mentioned anything about money then she tells me in Korean "my employees will always return money to the owner if ever overpayments happen." Well, first of all, this must happen often. For that to be the first thing she has to say about searching for a wallet. When she said owner she might have been referring to herself which makes her a criminal not a thief.

Up to you...

A very good friend recommend that we try this place and it was a great find. It is an interesting menu of Northern Chinese / Korean. There is an oblivious mixture of what you would recognize as Chinese along with Korean dishes with more of focus on the Chinese. You just have to look at the menu to understand.

You know right away that it is Korean/Chinese when they bring you banchan of kimchi, takuan, but also have raw onions with blackbean sauce. We ordered the Seafood Jjajangmyeon, Pork and Chives, and Gan Poong Chicken based on a recommendation I saw when looking at their food pictures on Yelp. All were excellent and I would recommend to other do the same if it is your first time going there.

Our food came out rocket fast and was fresh & hot. All the dishes were very tasty and beyond satisfying. On top of that, the ladies working there were super friendly and really made you feel welcome and appreciated. I'm already planning my return visit with other dishes I...
