What a wonderful place.
Authentic and still geared for Hawaiian tastes. I had Spaghetti with Italian Sausage. The sausage (2) were a little small, but were good Italian Sausage (strong in fennel and pork). The sauce was robust, fresh and flavorful, but had the sweetness that so many people who live here love. It makes me think this might be close to what the original sauce "Chef Boiardi" created 100 years ago, that became so popular. Not the mass produced, sodium-filled monstrosity it is now.
But the star was the pizza. Not the prettiest, the crust a little doughy... still amazing. The sauce was the best pizza sauce I've had on O'ahu... powerful, seasoned well and garlicy. The sausage was the same as in the spaghetti; very good. Not a conveyer oven... classic pizza place oven (Tho, not wood or coal fired). a minute or few longer would have made a better undercarriage and enhanced crispiness. The crust was still some of the best on O'ahu I've had. Delicious.
This should be anybody's place when you crave that mom-&-pop Italian joint vibe and food. I will be making this place a regular eatery. All they need is the Chianti bottles...
Read more8 or so table pizza/Italian place on S. King St. They advertise NY style pizza coming in with 3 crust options, thin, medium and thick. I am From NY State and found this odd. In my NY pizza joint experience crust is always on the thin side and some places also offer Sicilian style which is very thick. A much different product.
Was hungry for some good pizza pie so ordered the thin crust 16" (large) half cheese half pepperoni and a small Italian salad.
The salad was good, seemed fresh with a kind of sweet balsamic like dressing. The pizza however was odd. The topping appeared cooked well, nicely melted cheese but the crust was almost white on the bottom and soft like white bread. I honestly believe it had to be a frozen crust to come out like that. I did see another review for this place that thought the same. I personally hate frozen pizza. The sauce too had a lot of oregano, something if I want some I put on myself. Too much oregano ruins sauce for me. I know some others like it that way.
Our waitress was great, lots of smiles with good service.
Will try another...
Read moreCame here to try someplace different and am glad we did. First off there is some street parking right in front of the store that is metered and a small parking lot in the back that is free up to 1700 I believe.
The place is nice and clean and the menu fairly straightforward. I wanted to try a pizza so got the Mini 8" which as of this review 10-2021 was 10 dollars which I thought was a pretty decent deal. Crust was nice with just enough sauce. Baked spaghetti came out bubbling hot and was pretty good as well. The two dishes were more than enough for me and the GF.
Service was spot on and so friendly. It's amazing what a good server can do to create a good experience.
While not a foodie destination I had a great time with good simple food priced very fairly for the amount they give. I'll...
