First time trying this highly rated bakery and they advertised Saccher torte for the month of February. So, we bused there by 7:30am for it but to be told they do not make it but it was on their website and advertised! Very annoying already. The bakery opens at 6:30am and closes at 11:30am so we arrived by 7:30am and already a short line up.
If you have not been to France or Japan for the baked goods, then you might say Halekulani bakery is good but if you have ever eaten in France or Japan, then it is just mediocre for the exorbitant prices that they charge.
For one small skinny piece of coconut cake it's $14 USD, a small round 4 inch quiche itself with spinach and mushrooms $9, sticky cinnamon bun $7.50, drip coffee at $4.50, and a small round curry bun $7. Everything tasted fine and fresh but it does NOT have good value at those exorbitant prices they charge for what it is worth. Lastly, if you have several pastries, then it's $1 extra for the box.
The drip coffee had absolutely no coffee taste but it was nice and hot...lol...service was very good ....no advertised saccher torte for the month of February...false advertisement....
We would not return again as it is way over priced for what they have to offer. I do not mind the exorbitant prices provided that the food "wow" us but it did not.
We gave it 3 stars because of the good service and the taste of the food but had to deduct 2 stars for the very terrible coffee and the...
Read moreSo I woke up around 6am and looked at what's around to snack and coffee. So I decided to come here because it's over price and only opens from 6am to 11am daily. I knew I had to go because it's quite bougie. . So the verdict definitely worth the hype. I loved it. Here's what I had and my thoughts. . Coconut cake slice - 14 bucks. It was simple but sooo good. It's fluffy and not too sweet. But 14 for a slice is outta your mind. But so worth it. . Quiche - terrible skin on the tart. The inside of the egg was great. But a pass for 9 bucks. No more on this. I got this because mama loves her quiche too. . Ginger pineapple Danish- flaky crust and crispy. It was really good for the ginger and pineapple. Any Danish lover is a must try. . Pog croissant, nice cream filling inside and outside is layer of flaky in it. It was so good and must get vs the plain croissant if I get to choose again. . Coffee had the cold brew or ice americano and it was lovely. The coffee was so smooth and I would just go back for coffee and one pastry or just the coconut cake and call it a day. . Overall it was great sitting outside the hotel to enjoy some coffee and pastries. It was a very good experience and I would go back every time I'm in oahu for sure. Service was quick and just get a tray and pick out your own pastry with a tong then pay. Hope this review helps. Thanks for reading. Have a...
Read moreIt is nice to see a new place to offer pastries and offers nice breads as well open up in Waikiki. Being that it is the Halekulani, it is on a very upscale level, but not snobby at all. Just everything is the best and the service is top notch.
They have a dinning room if you want to sit down and be served, an outside seating area if you want to watch all the street action or enjoy the rays of the Hawaiian sun, and a casual seating area in the front where you make your selections and order. What ever your mood, you will receive stellar service and attention along with a superior product.
I got the Cassis Chocolate Mousse and it was not only beautiful, but amazingly delicious. It was like a combination of a pastry and a large candy confection.
The Latte was a bit of a disappointment. At $8, I expected a better prestation and flavor. It wasn't bad, just didn't reflect the price point. I can go to Dean & Deluca and get the same thing for $5 and it is presented with a foam design on to and tastes great. Think their coffee is an area of opportunity.
I did get the fig and nut bread to go to take to my mother's for dinner later in the evening. It was one of the most amazing artesian breads I have ever had. They must have trained their bakers in Europe or brought one from there for it to be so perfect.
For a nice afternoon treat, this is a great...
