Three co-workers and I went to Hana No Sato on the Makai side of King Street, a little past University Avenue. It’s a small space and their food is highly regarded. We each had the Hana no Sato Gozen, which is their take on a teishoku meal … You choose one main dish from the bento section and your meal includes miso soup, a green salad, a platter of four side dishes (mac salad, two gyoza, ½ soft boiled egg, tsukemono, chawam-mushi, two shrimp tempura and two pieces of mochi for dessert. It’s a LOT of food and a “steal” at $17.50. Three of us ordered the ginger pork while our fourth opted for chicken karaage. The main dish costs $13 with just rice and miso soup so for $4.50 more you get so much more. The food is well prepared and seasoned appropriately … I really enjoyed my meal and was so stuffed that I passed on dinner. I believe that the Gozen meal is limited in quantity so early diners are rewarded. Highly recommended!

My husband loved the chawanmushi so much he tried to make it at home. It's like a savory egg custard. He spent a lot of money on ingredients and the end result was.. strange. Unless you're VERY adventurous, just eat it here. Their food is delicious and you won't need to clean exploded egg off of all your cooking supplies.

My go to Japanese restaurant every time im on the island. Tucked a way in the side street is a local gem. I almos dont want to share the review publicly in case they get over run by tourists. However they do deserve some attention. It is BYOB. Buy some sake, beer, or whatever you like and bring it over.

Service SLOW & inadequate, as There Was 1 Waitress, but, Food QUALITY (& Quantity) had been Improved REMARKABLY & SIGNIFICANTLY -- Than DURING Covid -2020, LAST Year : URGENTLY Needing substantial and aggressive Marketing & Advertising -- to Gain Back the Traffic, AS IN YEARS AGO In Waikiki, where there WERE Tourists, whereas Now It IS AT A LOCAL - RESIDENTIAL + College Town Area ; therefore, Coupons, STUDENT, Educators & Staff -- essential BUDGET DAILY Sets/Meals, ACCUMULATING Rewards, DISCOUNTS on Parties, SPECIAL at MID-Afternoon, ... -- simply and necessary to Gain BACK ACCEPTANCE, as there are now plenty more Competition and UNFAVORABLE Circumstances ; many people don't even know you had moved and resumed Business At University area !

PLEASE Note: THIS/YOUR Location used to have a very successful Asian cuisine, though there had been no Parking...

Worst experience EVER... I was dinning alone and sat at the Sushi bar because I was told I could not sit at a regular table. Ok then I was asked to move to the last seat because a party of three wanted to sit were I was sitting when there was plenty of open seating in both sides of the bar. I was waiting like a dumb ass for five more minutes to give my order when they decide to take the order of the people who came before me . I felt so unwanted and so out of place. TOTALY RUDE EXPERIENCE for me. I also felt it could have been cause I was the only one that was no Japanese there☹️ So 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 To...
