I love libraries! I love the selection here and space for the kids section! Its got a cool area kids can sprawl out to read and explore books. Plenty of tables to read at or do homework too.
That said, I have very strong feelings about the security micromanaging the first floor. Wasn't going to post about it, but enough comments and policies I couldn't see posted over multiple visits and I'm through. Came with friends and our littles over a year ago. Was asked by the guard multiple times to keep the kids quiet. Were there any other guests on the floor? Literally none. Just the librarians and us. Were our kids actually that noisy? No. Were they making kid noises? Yes. I asked if there had been any complaints about our noise disturbing other patrons and security had to say no.
Apparently there is also a policy of no waterbottles on tables (I can understand this, but didn't see it posted anywhere) which again, security instructed me.
This is a library to not bring little kids to and just get your books and leave.
Oh! If you have a bike, good luck with the parking. They've got the good kind of poles to lock up to, but a big curb with only a tiny opening and no space to maneuver bikes around in. If you can lift up your bike to get it over the curb then you'll be fine. If you bike a dreadnaught with kids on the...
Read moreWhen Jan (library staff) first answered the phone she was so very helpful in assisting me w/my forgotten library card PIN #. She went above and beyond the call of duty in answering all of my questions and reserving a computer spot for me which I had to call two times to change it due to the delays the bus transit system was experiencing that day. And, when I arrived feeling exasperated due to bus delays, I asked for Jan and a very nice female library staff said she had stepped away and asked how she could help me. Due to my late arrival beyond my control, she immediately directed me to an available computer or laptop to use. Since it was my first time visiting this branch, I had no clue that printing was free of charge unless library patrons donated upwards of fifteen cents per page printed. Of course I had no problems donating a dollar for 9 pages! I can't imagine any of our wonderful public libraries going w/out the necessary supplies it needs to serve the public with! I happen to have a special fondness for libraries. As a kid all I ever wanted to do was read every single book in our village's local library! So, MAHALO to Jan and her co-workers who went the extra mile for me b/c my feet couldn't take any extra mileage W/ALL the walking I ended up doing due to bus delays! And, that's a story for another...
Read moreWorst library ever. The security woman? Is very rude. I asked her why she was being so rude she said due to my history. "I smoked weed in parking lot 3 months prior' which was medical. I asked to speak to her boss and she went to the back and called the cops to trespass me. And leaned in and said something very disparaging. The security lady is only physically capable of calling cops. Idk why she even works there. And the 80 Chinese lady chang following me with the trespass order as I'm trying to leave in my wheelchair takes the cake. Very nasty people. I feel sorry for how sad and truly unloved they must be. And they taped over all outlets to...
