0/10 I do not recommend ! We booked 19 rooms at this hotel for 5 days and 4 nights. Prior to our arrival I contacted the hotel at least three weeks before our arrival to confirm parking, room placements, provide a credit card authorization form and to confirm the accuracy of the items provided with the destination fee. Let’s begin w/the $38 per night destination fee. We were not provided with a Hyatt place Logo tote bag or 2 reusable water bottles. We received a brown paper bag and two bottles of water. Beach chairs and beach towels were available on a first come first served basis. Make sure you are up by 7am to get chairs otherwise none will be available. No live ukulele entertainment. No coffee in the lobby and no free appetizers at Tikis Bar
The absolute worst part about the hotel. Prior to arrival I spoke with a representative named Angeline. I informed her that we would have 60 ppl arriving & we would be utilizing four 15 passenger vans to commute during our trip. She informed us that was fine and we would pay the oversized fee for valet at $80 per night. She confirmed the fees would be applied to 4 of my 5 reservations.
Upon arrival at the hotel we were stopped by Lesly who told me they could not accommodate our vans. This was obviously very shocking and upsetting as this was already handled and confirmed by Angeline. In an attempt to correct their error she told me they would accommodate two of our vans and suggested alternate parking lots nearby. Although this was not at all ideal it was a compromise we were willing to make especially since she said they would pay for the first nights parking for the two vans they would not valet. The first lot they recommended had no space, so we had to find another.
Day two of us returning from our game we were again stopped by Lesly informing me there was no room for our vans. We had a very long conversation for the second time as she just told us the day before that the hotel would accommodate two of our vans. I requested to speak to her supervisor, Kyle. She went into the closet they use to store the chairs and beach toys and came back out to tell me her supervisor was in a meeting and was unavailable. So I asked to speak to Angeline as she was the original representative who I spoke to about the parking. Conveniently she was also unavailable.
Then again that night I had to speak to Kayla who was the supervisor on duty. The valet rep told us they needed management to approve our parking. Management told us they needed valet to approve the parking, It was becoming evident that this hotel does a lot of finger pointing, false advertising and no one takes accountability. I asked Kayla to contact her supervisor. She attempted and said both were probably sleeping. Now this was also disappointing and frankly unacceptable considering when I requested to speak to Kyle during the time that he was on the clock he was conveniently in a meeting all day. I asked Kayla to give me the contact information for their corporate office since the on site management was unable to be reached. I was given two numbers, both disconnected. Finally I gave up. I refused to spend everyday advocating for parking that was booked for us in advance through Angeline.
No hand soap for the sinks in our restrooms. Requesting replacement bath towels was a huge hassle. The elevators are a nightmare. You will wait 10 min just to get on the elevator. Many people would go up when they needed to go down and vice versa just so they could get on the elevator. Breakfast is also terrible. Items offered are only available for the first couple hours of breakfast so make sure you go early, Birds will attack you and eat the food right off your plate as the dining is outdoors. We had to go to another hotel to use the pool.
I urge anyone who is considering booking here to book anywhere else. Save yourself the trouble and prevent your vacation from being ruined by an establishment that falsely advertises the amenities they have to offer and passes the buck on...
Read moresparknotes version - pros: spacious room, good location, valet, free breakfast. cons: minimal counter space, lack of hooks, spotty tv reception, expensive parking, unsightly pool area, tiny pool/beach towels. would consider returning!
long version - i recently stayed here for 6 nights in a two queen, one pullout room on the 15th floor. we got a city view room and the balcony faced other hotels but we could see the church and ocean beyond at an angle. the sliding door didn't do much to block out the city noise (trucks, construction, people yelling, etc) so bring earplugs if needed. the room was spacious and updated. the shower tub with shower curtain and toilet were enclosed together and the sink with minimal counter space was just outside the bathroom door. full-sized shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided and securely sealed in their dispensers. more hooks would've been great for keeping towels separate or hanging toiletry organizers! there was a full length mirror and the lighting in the room was decent with overhead lights and lamps. the tv didn’t have apps but we were able to cast youtube from a laptop to drown out the city noise. the regular tv had spotty connection and would freeze when we stood in certain parts of the room. odd!
i quite liked the location being almost on the outskirts of waikiki since you could cruise down bustling kalakaua or bypass the activity and exit off h1 to head down kapahulu to get to the hotel. we felt safe walking around in the daytime and evening and there are tons of places to eat, shop, and grab coffee nearby. the beach is only two blocks away!
parking was pretty expensive here at ~$56/day after taxes for valet plus we are tippers so after factoring in the tips for our whole stay it can really add up. the valet guys were super nice and friendly though :) and not having to think about finding parking was a nice luxury. another review said you can park at the zoo? it's very close so look into that if you're deterred by the parking cost!
breakfast is included and was pretty decent! hours are 630-930a on weekdays and until 10a on weekends. they had stuff like rice, miso soup, kimchi, sunomono, yogurt, fruit (sometimes), baked breads (zucchini, banana, etc), bagels, coffee, tea, juice, and then rotating hot foods like jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches, portuguese sausage, bacon, chicken sausage, scrambled eggs, waffles, pancakes, etc. the dining area is all outdoors by the pool, so beware of wind and birds.
the pool is small and super booboo looking and would look so much better with floor resurfacing or painting. we didn't utilize it since the beach is right there. the hotel provides pool/beach towels and they are TINY. not comfortable for laying out on the coarse waikiki beach sand. apparently they have beach chairs and mats according to other reviews but the front desk staff didn't tell us about those when we asked about bigger towels :(
the rest of the hotel looks great. the lobby is clean and attractive. there are secure (key access only) bathrooms, some communal computers, places to lounge, a snack and coffee bar, and a filtered water station (to refill the free reusable bottles they give you upon check in! that's the only water station btw). all staff that we encountered was polite and friendly.
overall, we enjoyed our stay here! i usually avoid the hustle and bustle but if i had to stay in waikiki again, i would definitely consider...
Read moreWe were only here for 1 night. First the good. Like others have already said, the hotel is in a good location and only a short walk to the beach. They also provide complimentary towels for beach use. Staff generally were very friendly. Check in (having waited a couple of hours for the room) was easy enough. Reception and concierge team were particularly friendly. Room itself was nice and large (for which we paid a premium) and had a small sea view. Now the downsides..... Starting with the room. While large (and with a full size fridge) the noise of the air conditioning turning on and off during the night resulted in us turning it off altogether and sweating it out. It was far too loud. The bathroom was a bit on the small side too (I guess that's the offset for the larger room). Bed was comfortable enough. However, apart on the noise of the air conditioning, the noise from the road was particularly intrusive - especially between 9pm and midnight. Between that and the air conditioning noise (until I turned it off altogether) it was quite a restless night. Morning wasn't much better as kids were screaming away in the corridors from quite an early hour. The lifts (there were only 2 that I was aware of) were terrible. Slow to arrive and packed with people most of the time. The problem was made worse when the following morning one was classed as Out of Order 😩. Breakfast (which we'd included in our reservation) has to have been one of the worst I've had any hotel! The breakfast area (outdoor) closed at 09.30. We arrived around 9am. No fresh fruit, limited cereals, no cold meats, though they did have what I can only refer to as a McD type breakfast roll made with Turkey mince, white egg, and cheese. It looked and sounded revolting. Such a cheap move. We just had toast and butter in the end. The hotel offered a $5 Daily food and beverage credit, however the first time I asked for some milk to make a cup of tea (from reception) it was offered for free. The next time I went to the Food Place for a little more milk, they wanted to charge me $5.23 (incl tax). I told them I didn't want it and went back to reception and asked again if they could give me some milk. To my surprise the young lady came back and said they were almost out of milk and offered me Almond milk instead. Something didn't quite stack up. Go figure! Their apparent generosity of the $5 daily food and beverage credit is not cumulative (meaning it can't be carried forward to the next day) and is per room only, so in reality only $2.50 per person. Their generosity is boundless!! Furthermore, we were told on arrival that their pool was closed as they were replacing the floor tiles however when we went for breakfast, the (tiny) pool was full but cordoned off. To be fair they did say we could use the pool of another hotel nearby if we wanted. Our onward flight departed at 21.45. I asked if checkout could be extended. They agreed to a further one hour (ie. Noon). Given how much I'd paid for the booking (including taxes), I was expecting (hoping) for a lot more. The hotel is rated as 3* overall, I'd give it just 2. Not for me I'm afraid. Top tip: Queen Kapiʻolani Hotel Waikīkī Beach is so much nicer and...
