Jane's Fountain is located on Liliha Street. When you head up the hill, its on the right hand side, right before Kuakini Street. You'll see the large 'SAIMIN' sign right outside their door.
I found out about this place by word of mouth.
This place isn't fancy. Pretty run down but it's been there for decades. There's about 10 tables inside. No air conditioning but the fans in there keep you cool.
Come inside, seat yourself and the menu is on the wall. Just look at what you want. The prices are really cheap!
We ordered the Mix Plate which comes with Beef Stew, Hamburger Steak, and Chicken, the Corned Beef with Onions plate (canned corned beef), Pancakes (comes with three pieces), and after reading reviews on Yelp, we also ordered the Cheeseburger. OMG, every single thing we ate was SO DELICIOUS!!! Pretty much tastes like a home cooked meal! We really enjoyed it... and it was super cheap! With our 3 plates plus 2 cheeseburgers, it only came out to $32! WHAT A DEAL!!!
REMEMBER, it's CASH ONLY!!!
I've seen other people eating saimin... they must be known for that but i'm not much of a saimin eater. maybe one day i'll try it out. i'll definitely come back and try their other items...

This iconic diner, with its vintage charm and retro fixtures, offers more than just a meal – it offers a slice of Hawaii's rich history. Its time-worn counters and stools, where countless stories have been shared over the years, have seen generations come and go, yet the spirit of 'aloha' remains as vibrant as ever.
The menu is a wonderful mix of comforting local favorites and classic American dishes. Their loco moco is hearty and flavorful, with a perfectly cooked egg atop a generous portion of rice and beef patty, all smothered in a rich gravy. The saimin warms the soul with its savory broth and springy noodles. And don't get me started on their breakfast offerings – the pancakes are fluffy pieces of heaven!
The staff, many of whom seem like they've been part of the Jane's Fountain family forever, serve with genuine warmth and familiarity. It's not uncommon to see regulars greeted by name, making the dining experience feel personal and cherished.
For those seeking a taste of old Hawaii combined with scrumptious food and heartwarming service, Jane's Fountain is an unmissable gem in the heart...

However, a local hole in the wall is defined by it's ability to do the classics. The burger was fresh and hot with a hand made patty. Had it with just tomato and raw onions. The burger consistency was moist and not over formed. The Teri sauce was not overly sweet but still delivered a nice tang to the burger. Best yet it was was cheap! I recommend Jane's Fountain for a quick bite to eat that's tasty and reasonably priced! Words of advice, cash only and very little...
