My love of Hawaiian food and BBQ runs long and deep but I have never been to Hawaii until now. On the bus to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, my husband saw the “Hawaiian BBQ” sign for this inconspicuous diner on the corner, so that meant we just had to try it on the way back. Best. Decision. Ever. The entry door is on the parking lot side, and there’s about 3 four person tables inside. It’s the old school Asian restaurant feel you don’t find anymore - faded pictures of the menu options on the wall, older chairs and tables, and one person at the counter with another in the kitchen. There is a vast menu but we decided on two ‘minis’ - bbq ribs and mochiko chicken - they were anything but mini. My goodness the portions were huge, we were only able to finish one container. The mochiko chicken was sooooo crispy and moist and addictive, unlike any mochiko chicken I’ve had outside of Hawaii. The bbq ribs were meaty, and soft, and the char was beautiful. I want to try more of the menu. 100000% will be revisiting before heading back home. Killer food at this hole in the wall. Highly recommend!

Update June 2024: Still a fantastic spot. This is definitely a regular stop for us after landing. Tried the Katsu with Curry and it was amazing. The garlic chicken is still fire. I love how they will include chicken skin pieces, fried and seasoned to perfection. Original Review: Great spot for Hawaiian breakfast and lunch plates. So far we’ve only tried the Garlic and Mochiko chicken and both were great. The max salad is also on point here. I’m definitely looking forward to try a few other dishes. They have a parking lot next to the restaurant which makes it easy to stop in and get some good eats.

Passed this shop all the time but never gone in till today. They do have a parking lot tuck behind their restaurant and it is not easy to see. This is a hole in the wall type of place but the interior is pretty clean. Price is great for what the portion is and how tasty it is. I ordered the medium rare steak and it was just right. I think I got 9 shrimps which are a good amount. i am never crazy about local’s macaroni salad but theirs are not too terrible. Still I would swap for other options if you don’t like mayonnaise. They are fast too

This is a real family owned, hole in the wall business. Looks like it may have been renovated from an old house and the family maybe lives on the upper floors. Anyways, prices here are pretty decent and the food is really good. I'm not sure if I could say it's authentic Hawaiian, but still pretty good all the same. Due to COVID-19, it's currently take out only and no dine in and they are pretty strict on mask rules, so do bring your mask or buy one from them.

This place was amazing... Seriously some of the best food I had in Honolulu. We got the hamburger steak and the mochiko chicken. Totally hit the spot! Michigan chicken was crispy, tender and flavorful. The hamburger steak was juicy and drenched in gravy... amazing comfort food. After going there my sixteen year old son said to me... "We should just eat here the whole time" it was that good... Oh and the macaroni salad was probably the best I've ever had.
