Costco Hawaii Kai is the best Costco on the island and in the state of Hawaii. All the workers over there are super friendly and very helpful. From the time I walk in to the front door, I'm greeted with a smiling helpful worker named Maka, and whenever I start shopping and have a question, every single supervisor wearing a red vest is ready and willing to answer any question I have. I've worked in a retail environment for 20 years and this place is awesome. Just the feel of the store is also clean and can be crowded at times but it beats shopping at Iwilei any day of the week. The customer service desk is filled with awesome ladies and gentlemen who are always smiling and willing to do your returns or whatever you need with a smile. The bakery has some of the nicest people working in the background that you don't really see but are super nice and helpful if you have any questions about baked goods. The produce workers are always super helpful finding any fruits or vegetables you might need followed by the guys who work the deli area who are nice and friendly. Next are the butcher's who are super helpful when you need to find any type of meat, seafood, pork, chicken product. The stock guys also working hard and on the side that don't get noticed a lot are also super friendly whenever you need help and can't find a manager or other worker. Most of them go out of their way to walk you to the item you can't find instead of just pointing in a direction and telling you it's over there. Then there is the pharmacy with a bunch of really nice and helpful bunch who doesn't hesitate to help you find whatever you need in the pharmacy. When it's time to checkout, just pick a line and you'll be welcomed with awesome customer service, Reuben and his fellow counterpart working side by side are some of the nicest and hardworking cashier's I've ever met. Miki who's always helping the cashier's is awesome and funny. I met a bunch of awesome employees, Whitney, Robyn, Malia, Ryan, Jan, Skylar, and a few others I can't remember their names but they've always helped me whenever I shop there and I can't thank them enough. These guys are truly an awesome team working together. I can't think of one bad thing to say and I wish I got to work with people like this. Read moreI went to Hawaii Kai Costco to return a purchase from yesterday. The fact thst i waited 45 minutes is not what creates a low ranking. The lack of vision and foresite and discipline of the organization is what set me off. If I could rate "0" I would. Saturday always has more returns than weekdays. This is understood. To have only 2 clerks for a 50+ person line is lack of understanding of the situation on part of the manager. One clerk gets involved with a customer showing a picture from the floor of an item for $5.00 and his receipt for tge item that shows $11.00. Clerk & customer head off to the sales floor to find it. In the meantime 2nd clerk is handling the massive line singlehandedly. Of course while clerk 1 is gone clerk 2 shift finishes. She closes her register and counts her drawer, while there are audible groans from the multitude in line. She puts a new drawer in place and counts it as the new clerk arrives. She told him "it's clear for you". From that point he begins counting the drawer as she moves off the floor. By this time, clerk 1 and customer return and with no words to customer, clerk 1 jumps into helping a different customer pn a different membership creation register. Because clerk 1 disappears the customer asks the new clerk 2 what is going on. Clerk 2 (still counting drawer) says "I just came off break and do not know what's happening. Customer's wife tgen jumps into clerk 2's ear giving him the story from the beggining, not allowing him to assist anyone. 7 minutes later clerk 1 returns and finalizes customer transaction. Then heads back to membership side for something. 5 more minutes elapse in whuch time clerk 2 has finally finished counting drawer and assited 1 customer. I had arrived at 2:15, my simple transaction receipt is time stamped 3:03pm. In the face of a tricky situation, a manager could have used clerk 1 register to deal with line until he came back, OR clerk 1 should have asked help dor floor che k instead of abandoning his post and allowing nothing to get done. Read moreI have been a long time Executive Member at Costco. I had an American Express card in only my name and then it changed to Citibank Anywhere. Surprisingly, even though I had automatic renewal on my credit for membership, they informed me that as of April of this year my membership expired. Shocking to me that a business as well established as Costco could have a glitch in their computer systems. I went into this location as informed them that my credit card did not expire until 2021 and I was tired of dealing with incompetent people. I was so surprised that even the store location the customer service was poor. They confirmed that yes, my credit card did not expire until 2021 and that my payment history with them was exemplary. It was a nightmare going round and round with people who could not even renew a simple membership for a customer that is exemplary. I left very dissatisfied and completely shocked at the customer service at Costco. I would love if someone from Costco could contact me and fix this frustrating situation. I would love to remove this review because it does not in anyway reflect the service that I had always received from this company. If there is anyone that can assist in making this relatively simple problem get corrected I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!!!
Update to my review. Shocking how I called to remedy this situation and was told a completely new story. All of a sudden my card was canceled in January instead of April and even though the membership automatically renews on my credit card they could give me no information as to the details of the transactions. Very POOR CUSTOMER service. They could also not provide me with an accurate mailing address. They had none of the addresses I had on file. SHOCKING.
