Win-Spuntino — Restaurant in Honolulu

The portions are quite generous, however in my personal opinion. It did not meet expectations in the flavor department! The noodles looked and tasted like your average store bought boiled spaghetti. No big deal I guess. But the sauce is what disappointed me the most! Absolutely no flavor! It tasted like old school Hunts low sodium canned spaghetti sauce from the 80's. If that is the case? Please atleast use the sauce in the jar. The meatballs unfortunately tasted exactly like the COSTCO frozen meatballs! My daughter's chicken alfredo's sauce tasted like they used fish oil or cooked it in the same pan as shrimp?

To me it just tasted like everything was pre made and just heated up? Which is fine for my personal pantry, but not a restaurant!

Perhaps this was due to the whole Covid thing, where ingredients were limited and a business had to make due with what...

After reading reviews on this place it sounded like it would be amazing... So I ordered off Uber eats... I ordered seafood combo or something like that (clams,shrimp,calamari w/Garlic sauce), also chicken piccata and garlic cheese bread. To start it off the delivery was really late so that probably helped to make quality of food not the best cause pasta is best eaten fresh not like an hour later... Anyways... The seafood one tasted like straight calamari, I didn't taste garlic at all... The clams were all chopped up ( just a personal preference thing). The chicken piccata was so so the sauce tasted as if they used too much wine and didn't cook it down long enough... The only really plus in this whole situation was I saved $30 from Uber eats with a promo and I also got a $10 comp from them for my order being so late... Also bummed cause I was craving pasta...

I had the clams AND upgraded with fresh clams with pasta for my entree. It was unremarkable, but I recall dry, lacking flavor, and dry. It came with a sliver of lemon which I assume was to aid the DRYNESS, but half of a lemon would have been more appropriate. It was DRY. On a positive note, my entree encouraged me to drink more water, which I habitually lack at any given waking moment. Because my entree was dry.

Ahem. The Shrimp Scampi appetizer is totally awesome. And not dry.

The Garlic Bread with cheese is sooooper good, and is a must to mop up the garlic and butter from the Shrimp Scampi. Hence...not dry.

In closing...if you order the clams with pasta from here, (which if classically prepared anywhere else BUT here is call Pasta Ala Vongole), pre-hydrate, and bring a bottle of wine or you will succumb...
