Shed — Restaurant in Hood River

We've lived in the Gorge now for 5 years now. This was the first time, (after many invites) we have made it to the Shed, and let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations. We're from Huntington Beach, Ca in the heart of Orange County, where eating establishments impress or go out of business. The Shed delivered on all fronts, esthetics, atmosphere, menu, service, and quality of food. I'm a sucker for chicken schnitzel with gravy, and the fact that it was on the menu already had me planning my return trip, but it was absolutely perfect. The mushroom gravy was a stand alone meal in itself. My wife chose the top sirloin, it came with just the right amount of char and was fabulous as well. After a long day in Portland, we were hungry,. After considering then dismissing several places (some closed, some were definitely drive bys,) I don't know how you feel about the excessive fast food shacks, but we wanted food real meat! This place hits the mark for a casual date night, outting with friends, or even a solo venture: good food, good drinks, good ambiance. The seating options are comfortable and spacious; never crowded or loud. One half of the bar is divey, the other half modern. This place offers a selection of Polish beers; in a city that hosts several local breweries, I dare say these imports are possibly the most interesting brews.
