Salon 43 One — Local services in Hoover

I have never been to a place this amazing for a hair cut! I was so overwhelmed with excitement as soon as I stepped inside. I am not from Birmingham but love this city more and more and the amazing things God is doing here. I didn’t know “43-1” meant Isaiah 43:1 but that is exactly what I needed! I also was really touched by the hand made personalized scripture truth messages even on your coffee cups. Free coffee too!!!!!!!! I still have my paper cup and I’m not throwing it away because I need that verse. I teach right now at a high school full time and it’s really demanding and I am really passionate about self care. I have been telling all my coworkers about this place now. I felt the amazing staff and RK really care about our total wellness—feeling great with a great haircut but also boosting our sense of self care, self worth, confidence, and spiritual health. I felt cared for in every regard and this place is an example of creating places of wellness and wholeness for guests. Truly a self care place and spiritual health boost. I felt RK did a superb job and I am also telling everyone what a great job she did but also the time she took to share her story and encourage me in my story. She shared from her journal and what truth God is showing her now. I went through a hard change at the beginning of this year. Having my appointment with RK was a turning point for me truly (I mean that!). It was absolutely a God meeting. Anyone can tell how much you pray over your salon and how truly God is moving there. 9/29/20: I was hesitant to write this review, but after the experience I had, I finally have built up the courage to write something. This was my first time coming to a salon and I was very excited to get my first bayalage after talking to my sister and friends who have come to this salon before. After each of their experiences, they had told me that they ended up paying between $210-230 for their hair. With this same expectation I had gone to this salon and was still satisfied with the service, however I feel as though I was taken advantage of. I ended up paying $400, not including the tip. I left the salon very confused and ended up asking my hairstylist why it cost double of what I was expecting. She wasn’t even aware of what all I was charged for and asked the front desk, this makes me question how they charge their customers. I was charged an additional $100 dollars an hour for “color correction” (this would have been a crucial determining factor on whether or not I would have followed through with the hair service) but I was never told that I was going to be charged by the hour to begin with. In addition to that, during my appointment, the color did not turn out as the stylist had hoped and she had to recolor it again, adding to my time. When I expressed my concerns to my hairstylist she offered me $60 refund which then turned into a $50 because management would not allow them to give any more than. The salon atmosphere was great! I had my appointment booked with another stylist and they called that morning to let me know my stylist was sick and was going to have someone else do my hair. I agreed because I live in Georgia and I did not have time to reschedule. I did not think it would make that big of a difference. They guaranteed me on the phone that the stylus would be able to accomplish what I was asking for. I am the first photo I attached. The second photo is what I showed the stylist and what I asked for in my pre-appointment paperwork. I paid 400+ dollars and after seven hours and 45 minutes that was my final results. My stylist at the five hour and 30 minute mark showed me my hair and kept telling me that my roots were as dark as the picture I was showing her and my eyebrows. They unfortunately are clearly not so she got another stylist opinion and they gave me " Money highlights" to help frame my face and they smudged my roots again to make them look darker. The final results is still nothing like the photo and I told them I did not want my eyebrows this dark because I was OK with the grout line. I just want my roots of my hair to be as dark as my eyebrows, so it doesn't look so fake and like my eyebrows are drawn on. The stylist herself was professional, extremely kind, but had only been doing hair since August is what she expressed to me.
