Big Whiskey's - 280 — Restaurant in Hoover

Tried this place on soft opening as well as the next day for lunch. Both times were great. I have to give a shout out to my server Sabrina. She was an absolute joy to have as our server on the first day they were open. She was happy, talkative, checked on us often and had a smile that was infectious. One of the best servers I have had in a very long time. Kitchen staff did a great job as well and we were asked 3x by management how everything was.

I have only got to try a couple of things but I have high hopes based on the limited ones I have. I tried the fried pickles and they were great. They were crunchy and not oily in the least bit. Ranch dressing was a little thinner than I usually like, but still good. 10/10. Had the club salad and I give it 10/10. Perfect portion size and ratio. The creamy Italian dressing was on point. I also tried the burger with fried jalapeños and a sweet sauce. It was good, 8/10, but the burger itself tasted fantastic. I ordered it medium rare but it was closer to medium, but it was during the soft opening so no points off. I just don’t care for sweet on my burgers so that’s on me.

I came here on opening day, my first time to any Big Whisky and honestly wasn’t super impressed by my service or what I ordered. I decided to give it another try a week and a half later and oh my goodness I am so happy I did! My server Shyra B was a great server, super kind & consistent but not overbearing. The first time I went there (I’m not sure who my server was but it definitely wasn’t Shyra) I felt rushed out even though there were completely empty tables around me. Shyra made us feel super welcomed & accommodated! The food was SO GOOD this time too!!! I am so happy I went back bc I will definitely be a regular here from now on based on this second experience. Between the food & service I experienced this time I would 10/10 recommend! Even the gentlemen who brought out our food from the kitchen was overly kind & thoughtful!...

We came to Big Whisky Steakhouse for a meal while on our trip through the area and I could go on about how fantastic the dinner was but honestly, Shyra made the whole experience. She went above and beyond. She was attentive without hovering, friendly, and genuinely cared that we had the best experience possible and just had this natural way of making everyone at the table feel welcome. It’s rare to meet someone who’s that genuine and good at what they do. Honestly big whisky should give her a raise, she’s the reason we’ll 100% be coming back.
