NOT FOR KIDS - These guys took burgers and chicken drumsticks off the kids menu. Hope your kid likes grilled cheese or mini pork sandwiches. Otherwise, you will spend 2-3 times as much for a burger or chicken for your kids. This also means there are now no gluten free options on the kids menu. Because of this, our little girl who eats next to nothing has to order a larger portion off the adult menu or she will get sick. Check the photo of the huge value we got out of spending twice as much for our other child’s burger. It’s the exact size we used to get for much less.
I want to take a moment to focus specifically on the fact that Jim N Nicks’ kids menu no longer has a hamburger on it. Let that sink in. What kids menu doesn’t? The Mexican and Chinese restaurants we frequent have kids’ burgers.
I want to wrap this up by saying that we just can’t go to Jim N Nicks with our children anymore. That, and I sure am glad I never went to this restaurant craving a burger. That thing was paper thin. Like somebody had smacked a slider with a frying pan. A nine dollar, flattened slider.
Edit - While I appreciate Jim N' Nick's attempt to get me to just accept a free meal or two so I won't make a fuss about this not being a kid-friendly restaurant, really the only thing that will fix this is Jim N' Nick's fixing it's kids menu. Parents enjoy your food and like to spend time with their kids. Fix this.
It's so simple and cheap (extra $$ for you) to take some chicken wings and throw them in a fry basket. No breading. No seasoning. Fry it until it floats and put it on a plate with some fruit and ranch dressing. You already have all of these ingredients. Kids love it. Parents love when kids don't complain about their food so everyone can have a good time. Don't leave parents hanging just because your chef isn't capable of thinking up these simple solutions when you realize you're loosing money on certain dishes (in Jim N' Nick's Bizarro(TM) accounting). I'll let you know an issue with your accounting that you may not have considered - if families can't come in to enjoy your restaurant, you will go out of business. Full stop. Do you really want to shed 15-20% of...
Read moreI have some vivid memories of my “Grandma’s cookin” and this place had me in happy tears while eating! By far one of the best meals and service I have ever received. Our waitress was Tamilia (I apologize if it’s not spelled correctly). She definitely made the experience more enjoyable. My brother and I were in conversation and we never once opened the menu. When Tamilia waited on us, we asked what she recommends. She started off with the smoked wings smothered in their signature BBQ sauce and their white sauce, Deviled eggs with a pickle on the bottom, and the Cheese muffins. OMG… talk about the best wings EVER! We never once dipped them in ranch and they were moist! Then talk about why I have never heard of the pickle trick???!!! It has changed the way I eat deviled eggs! We continued to chow down the appetizers while Tamilia came back to take the order for dinner. We still haven’t opened the menu. She recommended the collard greens as a side for starters. First recommendation was Ribs. My brother got that with Slaw and Mac and Cheese. Second recommendation was Brisket and I got the greens and Tater salad for the sides. Let me tel you, each dish was amazing. Slaw was homemade and brought happy tears. Mac and cheese was baked with the right amount of seasoning. Collard Greens were off the charts with the right amount onions and meat. Tater salad was a chefs kiss. I ain’t kiddin when I say these side dishes were like a main course with our taste buds jumping for joy with every bite. Then came the meats. The ribs were earth shattering good. Brisket was tender and easily pulled apart by the fork. Lathered in BBQ sauce and waiting to be devoured. I cleared my plate and couldn’t wait to have more cheese muffins directly from the oven. Tamilia came by to clear the table and told me “I’m proud of you” for eating my serving. I couldn’t stop myself. I had to have it all. I should also mention that we ordered sweet tea mid way through and the amount of diabetes in those glasses was amazing! True southern sweet tea is the nectar of my existence. If ever pass through the south again, I guarantee this will be one of the food joints I...
Read moreA manager brought our food over and slightly tipped the plate so that a cup of honey mustard flew off and landed on my lap. It poured on my pants and he went to go get napkins and apologized. I was just trying to be calm as I had just bought these pants which were expensive and it was my first time wearing them. He offered to take them to the dry cleaners and I declined saying it should come out. I said this because I didn’t want to cause a scene and what was I supposed to do? Take my pants off in the restaurant to give them to him? He didn’t offer to waive my meal or get us a free dessert. He didn’t even clean the mess on the floor. When I got home I used stain remover and washed them and they were still stained. I called and asked to speak with a manager, hoping I could get a gift card to the restaurant. I ended up speaking with the person who dumped the honey mustard on me and I spoke nicely and just recalled the events and asked for a gc. He then said “I’m sorry to put it this way but I did offer to personally take your pants to the dry cleaners.” I responded saying I declined bc I didn’t know what to say and I was trying not to be rude. Even as we sat there eating I said that he should’ve offered to take my meal off the bill or get us a free dessert. I dont think it would’ve been hard to just say it was fine to give me a dang $25 gc. I said in my response that I thought it would be fair to get one but I guess not and he just said, “okay thanks.” And that was it. I’ll never come back here bc of the way the manager spoke with me on the phone. I was not rude, but his response was. How very disappointing. A manager should never act like that especially when you were...
