Taco Central — Restaurant in Horizon City

Dropped by for lunch on Saturday! Place was not packed but it was moderately busy. Walked right in and found a table immediately. We were a party of 5. Ordered the waitress recommended "carnitas". Tasted like they were off a hot table at a local butcher shop, no big deal at all. Not tasty, not moist, just bland as can be, like they've been sitting under a hot lamp for hours! Terrible considering it was an $18 plate. Several dollars more than what a pretty decently tasting carnitas plate cost at Querétaro. Barbacoa tacos were descent, pastor tacos again lacked flavor and color. Very bland nothing savory or tasty. One of the dullest tasting we've had. No chile color, no pineapple no, no big deal! Plates came with charro beans that were good and a papa asada. Everybody's baked potatoes were crappy. Tasted like they came straight out of the microwave, still wettish, with uneven, uncooked hard sections inside. Child rellenos were ok. Ordered drinks and no DR Pepper! No fountain drinks, just bottled Mexican sodas. In the end we spent $127 for 5 plates and drinks. Ridiculous! The worst part was, 18 dollars was charged for gratuity, on a party of 5! Wow. First time I've seen that in El Paso, for maybe 10 bucks worth of waiting on our table. Definitely felt ripped off after leaving the restaurant. Music and young heartthrob boy toy videos for women and teens were stupidly playing on their speakers and big wall! This place has cool decor. That's about it. Waste of lunch,...

UPDATE 3 /2 / 25 Second time eating here and the experience now was very bad. 4 out of the 5 dishes we ordered came out incorrect. The server offered no apologies. I just turned around and went to the kitchen.. she only fixed 2 of the 4 plates and we didn't know if we were supposed to eat or wait for her to fix. No communication whatsoever. Not sure if it was an error in taking the order or that the kitchen just didn't follow instructions.

Also one of the employees came out of the kitchen with a bowl of chips in one hand and eating another chip with the other.. not sure if what she was eating was from the bowl she was about to serve. She put the bowl of chips on the bar counter, turned around to do something and then licked her finger and proceeded to grab the chip tray without washing her hands. Last time eating attain place!! I do not recomend..

We dined at this restaurant by accident. I live in the area and I did not know this was a restaurant . I thought it was another fast food type place, but I was quite surprised by this little gem. Decorations and ambiance was great and the service was good as well. They messed up my order, but the waitress immediately made it right. I asked for frioles charros and they brought refried beans.. as I said they immediately...

Location was recommended as the best tacos. However, my personal experience was no bueno. Only the presentation was good. Arrachera tacos were made from thick chunks of chewy sirloin meat. Not real arrachera that is supposed to be thin and real soft. The baked potato was still raw on the inside. Waitress said she could probably change it for another one. Also ordered mini empanadas chorizo. Chorizo was undercooked. Pop music and videos not really what you would expect. Its not a teen club dance. The kitchen had better real music. $70 for two orders of tacos, 2 cockes and 3 mini empanada...
